Link to 2003 signing bonuses???

Recommended Posts

Congratulations to the father (and the son for that matter. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif )

Baseball America lists bonus information with its draft archives...I'll have a link once the page(s) load.

Understandably, the web traffic has been fairly high for BA today, very slow loading. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif

This link is said to be for subscribers only, but it actually still has 2003 data.

Not a lot of 12th rounders signed last year, apparently. That said, it appears as though the two players with leverage (1 HS, 1 DFE) signed for nearly twice as much as the two college players.

#344 - Matt Pulley, 3b (HS) - $65,000

#350 - Jayson Rodriguez, rhp (CC) - $60,000

#351 - James Paduch, rhp (college) - $30,000

#353 - Joe Mazzuca, ss (college) - $25,000

Other notes:

-Apparently, only one of the players in the 13th round signed, but he did so for ~ second round money ($750,000)

-Bonuses varied greatly between the 4 11th rounders who signed, from $7,500 (Oakland) to $140,000 (Anaheim)....so the team that drafted the player may be a factor as well.

Hey Al, I thought you might find this chart that Jim Callis came up with in his latest installment of Ask BA to be helpful. It not only lists averages for bonuses in the top 10 rounds, but it also breaks them down by where those players came from (HS, college juniors, college seniors):

Also note that the #9 college prospect for next year is Stephen Kahn, who is expected to pitch for Team USA this summer.

Yeah I noted where Kahn was as well, a little sting in that one. Of course he's a COLLEGE pitcher now so he's much better http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif . I also saw John Mayberry, who did the Mariners waste there replacement pick on for not signing him?
