Get ready to welcome Jake Petricka back to the major league roster:

Glad Wilson got used last night now.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Kinda makes the "OMG why did they remove CHASE?!?!" insta-reactions sound silly now.

There were a lot of really silly insta-reactions last night that didn't make a lot of sense in a game the team had control of pretty handily.

Those games bring out the worst of those. If they are losing it's time to sign a free agent.

Yep ... the Kimbrel posts showed up as soon as Wilson put a runner on last night. They are going to be deafening the first time Jeffress gives up a run, whether that's this afternoon or next month.

Yea I was surprised when Wilson came in last night, it all makes sense now. Just have to remember the guys running the team aren't idiots, there is usually a reason for all moves, even the questionable ones, we just might not be privy to the info.

Well I don't know how much you're joking/mocking but chances are they knew this was happening any day so might as well use him while they can knowing he'll be off for a few days. And it could explain why Petricka was sent to Appleton so that he can come right back now, I assume this would fall in the exception that allows him to be recalled before the normal timeline. If that doesn't apply then I guess not though.

I think you nailed the plan 100% here. Yes, Petricka can be recalled in this case.

I don't think those posts were silly at all. If I remember right, a lot of us were puzzled why he was taken out and figured there must be a reason. Nothing wrong with that, as it was odd for him to come out of the game in that situation. No?

Not necessarily. If Chase stays in, you lose him for the next several games, and he would no longer be a candidate to take Saturday's start. Pulling him when they did conserves that possibility. I'm sure Chase is down today, but he should be good to go for tomorrow, or could take the spot start Saturday if that's the way they go. Pitching Wilson last night right before leaving for paternity leave keeps him sharp, and he'll be rested when he comes back on Saturday. With a comfortable 6-run lead, they were looking toward conserving pen innings and keeping options open.

I think what is assumed by many is that Chase will be a multiple innings guy and in CCs pen he may not be.

the brewers still have seven more games after this one before an off day. now is not the time to try to insert a reliever like chase anderson into the rotation, who will likely be unable to give you a deep start, and end up burning through your bullpen.

adrian houser has been stretched out as a starter in the minors for three starts, and he's pitching quite well there. given the scheduling, he should get the shot.

The way Burnes is going (11 Hrs in 17.2 IPs - ERA over 11) it's time for Anderson to start and Burnes to the pen. CC cannot keep running him out there just to give up dingers and put the Crew behind. Today he gave up 9 hits, two more HRs, and 5 runs total in only 3 innings. Maybe even send Burnes down to work on his location and try Houser.

I’d give Burnes two more starts to correct himself. That’s gets him to May. If at that point it’s no good, send him down. Let him work through what is needed.

No Burnes in pen.

He supposedly has 5 pitches.

Why hasn’t he thrown them?

4-seam, slider, 2-seam not enough.

I’ve seen a handful of curves total in how many starts?

I haven’t seen his change-up YET

If he doesn’t have enough confidence to throw the curve and Change-up in the big league rotation then he needs to work on them in AAA. At a min he needs the curve but the change can be the ace maker.

I liked it better when we had one young ace, 2 young TOR starters, and Nelson starting on opening day better than ever. Wow, that did not age well. If Brew Crew 92 ever comes to town trying to sell you on a monorail being the "wave of the future" , run. Run far, far away.

No ace in Burnes this year

No tor in peralta this year

Still confident in woody tor

Took back Nelson start opening day the same day I said it. So that’s getting a little old and stale. But yeah credibility needs a little building up, maybe Nelson will dominate when he comes back.

He needs to "work through what is needed" in San Antonio. Right now he's lost confidence and throwing him out there 2 more times does him and the team no good. Chase Anderson is a proven major league caliber starting pitcher. There's absolutely no reason he shouldn't take Burnes' spot with Houser taking Peralta's for now.

Disagree on this. You speak as if you are in his mind. He may still have all the confidence in the world. If Stearns/CC were willing to open the season with these three young arms they better not pansy out when the going gets tough. Patience is often rewarded in life.

I agree with the two more starts thing for Burnes. There comes a point where it's not fair to the rest of the guys on a contending team to keep sending him out there if he isn't pitching well, I'd just rather see Counsell give Burnes a couple more starts to see what happens.

But I don't agree with the concept that Burnes should automatically be sent down if he gets pulled from the rotation. Stearns/Counsell and the rest of the decision makers should then decide if he's one of the best 8 relievers, and if they decide he is, then he should get moved to the bullpen.

I would not mind Dallas coming in especially with the Freddy injury and the struggling of Burnes. It will be nice to have Jimmy back and hopefully with a guy like Dallas and maybe getting Burnes figured out the brewers rotation should be ok

Brewers are next to last in the NL in team ERA and Cincinnati is 3rd. We definitely have a more talented staff than they do so I am putting this all on downgrading from Johnson to Hook. We pitched pennies on the pitching coach position and we are now paying the price for that huge mistake.

I'm fine either route they go on him. If he stays up though I definitely would like to see them use the offspeed pitches and more 2 seam fastballs. It seems to have some good cut on it. I guess just saying keeping him up and repeating the same stuff that has been feeling doesn't seem to make sense, make some changes at least.
