Is this good news (that he has pitched with this for awhile) or bad news (that there is a slight tear)?

This has all the earmarks of a two year injury. One year of "let's try to rehab this" and another year after he actually has TJ surgery. Reality is we just wait and see what he second opinion is but I'm considering him out for the year unless I'm told otherwise.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

If enough of the UCL is torn that an athlete continues to have symptoms with throwing, surgery is often still necessary. Some athletes with partial tears might be able to return to sports with rest for up to six weeks and physical therapy. Some athletes have improved with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections.

Of course, we have seen many Major League Baseball pitchers suffer partial UCL tears of the elbow. They try a course of nonoperative treatment that often fails to help them return to pitching, so they undergo surgery.

Have the TJ Corey, rehab like the maniac that you are, and come back throwing 100 for the second have of next year. We’re gonna need you then for the repeat.

All quit on the western front with jeffress bullpen. Can’t believe McCalvy Rosiak Haudricourt Murray couldn’t give update by now. If he did his pen prob was this morning. Geez.

If they weren't given answers, the silence isn't their fault. (Not sure you were implying blame or not.)

Brewers skipper Craig Counsell admitted Thursday that Corey Knebel is dealing with an UCL issue and will get a second opinion.

Counsell elaborated, noting that it wasn't a complete tear of his UCL and that he has pitched with the injury for awhile, so Tommy John surgery is not a foregone conclusion here. Still, it remains a possibility. We'll wait and see what the second opinion holds, but the Brewers' interest in Craig Kimbrel seemingly makes much more sense now.

Will never understand people constantly bashing Chase Anderson just like I never understand why people despised Rickie Weeks.

Chase Anderson is a solid pitcher and you could argue he was set up for failure fighting for a rotation spot with a new delivery. Pretty much assured he will start 10+ games this year due to injuries. Heck wouldn’t shock me if a young guy struggles so bad Anderson takes their spot.

I think people are going to be massively disappointed in those young guys. Many were successful because of short stints. Going 6+ is a whole new ballgame and I am not too confident all three will make that transition seamlessly.

Davies or Anderson...meh. Probably Davies after Anderson’s spring. I find them to be comparable though...Davies with some higher upside.

Disagree with your take on our young guns. Seamless no. There will be growing pains, I think we all know this, but these 3 are gonna be studs this year. Woody is slightly ahead of the other two because of experience. He’s ace material THIS year. Burnes also potential ace but maybe not this year. I think, like woody can pitch deep cause of his good command.peralta once he commands his FB could be the best of the bunch. But without the command right now will struggle to go deep.

That is fine. Three pitchers with no proven experience starting. I will take the odds that one is a decent disappointment.

Peralta seems the most likely to disappoint. Wouldn’t shock me if he struggles bad enough to get sent to the pen. I think they all have bright careers, but if you start that many guys that are not proven having all turn out to be good right away would be quite amazing.

Not saying it can’t happen, I just highly doubt it.

Nothing on jeffress bullpen

Nothing on Nelson minor league start

Nothing on Kimbrel negotiations

Can’t believe these beat guys this oblivious to the die-hard brewer fans. Whatever.

I just posted a Jeffress update. It's possible that his pen session wasn't public.

There is info on Nelson's minors start today all over Twitter from McCalvy.

Of course there is nothing on the Kimbrel negotiations. Why in the world would they make anything from that public before it does or doesn't happen?

More

Nelson recorded 10 outs on 57 pitches by the great @Todd_Rosiak’s count. Yielded a homer, a double just inside the line and two walks. Sharp breaking stuff. Sat 91-93 mph with the FB for the first three innings and mostly 89 in a long 4th cut short when he reached his pitch count

One of two reasons:

1. The deal is done pending some minor contract language clarifications.

2. Kimbrel’s camp leaked it to get other teams interested

I honestly believe #2 is the reason.

#2 and #3

Saw in mccalvy’s column in mlb.com. Stearns said jeffress bullpen “went well”.

"Went well." You mean CC didnt say "Hes just not looking good, its panic time around here!" When are we ever going to ignore these generic comments??

I want to know what the info is and then decide if I want to ignore it

And who’s counting?
