Random thoughts that are pointless and too dumb to say anywhere else thread: 2019

hawing

Keep thinking! And keep it random, pointless and/or dumb. :)

"The Sandlot 2" is on and it's terrible. I stopped watching a while ago but the SO will apparently watch anything.

There's hard (alcoholic) sparkling water now? Once you're adding alcohol to even your water, maybe you just need to admit you have a problem.

Haha. That's funny.

There is even a hard water too. Just regular water. Not even sparkling.

I've had a few of these--one was pretty good and another was terrible. It's a smart way to market what is essentially a sugar-free version of other common canned mixed drinks. It isn't sold as a low-cal drink but that's essentially what it is. LaCroix with alcohol.

Because of medications I've had to abstain from alcohol the last 2 months or so and while I don't indulge in alcohol that often, I'm noticing a decent reduction in my grocery bills. I guess that makes up for the price of new meds.

Also, is it weird that on my day off I am watching a double feature of the Holy Grail? (Indiana Jones and Monty Python)

This 5Ge thing att is pushing is making me draw parallels to "this is spinal tap" when theyre talking about their amps going to 11.

A very common drink especially among women is a simple Vodka/water or Vodka/soda water. It actually makes sense, no calories and no sugar while getting water in the body which is obviously good while boozing.

except for the actual calories in vodka.

Well yea, but it's not liquor calories + calories for whatever the mixer is. Basically, the mixer has 0 calories.

I saw a Milwaukee band a couple years ago at the Mile of Music here in Appleton. They were so good live, I bought their cd. Played it non-stop for 6 months or so, then they put out a new cd. Got it, and did the same thing with their latest release. I look forward to seeing them every year at the Mile, but last year they didn't participate. Bummed me out.

"Whips" is the band and they are tremendous.

I often wonder why a band this good can't get a big time record deal, then I realize what I sometimes forget.....Rock and Roll as I knew it growing up is essentially dead.

THAT bums me out...

What is the best way to clean concrete (of dirt) using a minimal amount of water because the water has nowhere to drain or evaporate (interior stairwell)?

You can use water. Rent (or buy if your house is prone to flooding) a wet/dry vac. You should be able to get it mostly dry and whatever isn't you could just use a fan or two pointed at the wet spots.

This is basically how we dried the basement in the house I grew up in (the floors were concrete and the outside wasn't sealed properly so every time we had a decent rain, water would leak into the basement.)

On my way home I was debating whether to walk the dogs before or after I went to the grocery store. A couple blocks from my house the street was blocked off. I went over a block and it was blocked too. I asked the officer what was wrong and if I could get through to my house. He said it was an active shooter situation on the 300 block of Wisconsin ave. Which is the block my house is on. I went shopping first.
There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

The problem is that it's not just my house, it's a 4-unit building with three other owners. The water is going to drip down the stairs over other parts of the stairs where people may go in/out their side door and down to the bottom which is like a storage area where people keep some things. It's hard to describe; picture four flat condos stacked on top of each other. Just need to clean a couple of 4x8 areas and a few steps without water running down over a common area of the building.

You could use a steam cleaner instead. You would still have some water but not as much should be easier to control. Plus you wouldn't need a very big one either a handheld steam cleaner should do the job.

What are the implications of buying a late-model vehicle (2016) with a rebuilt title? What questions should I ask, what should I be aware of, what are the risks?

First one I can think of is you are going to have trouble getting an insurance company to correctly value the vehicle. Insurance companies have a rather hard time placing a value on the vehicle. For example if you buy a vehicle that is a rebuilt title for $15,000 the insurance company may value that vehicle anywhere between $5,000-10,000. You will also want to check with your insurance company to see if they will even insure a rebuilt title some companies won't.

There are many issues to look out for with the biggest being the frame. Since these vehicles that have been totaled by an insurance company you are looking at vehicles that have severe frame damage. You will want to look for cracks and what was repaired on the frame. You will want to check the alignment it is possible the vehicle is currently aligned correctly but a couple months later it will be like you are driving a car that has hit every single pothole for a year straight.

To be honest I wouldn't even mess with a rebuilt title it is going to be more of a hassle than it is worth.
