And I didn't want to watch Sports Center this morning because I had DVRd the game and didn't want to know the outcome. Would have loved to have seen what they said.

40 points in a half... never seen anything like that at any level. And after the first half I wanted them to bench him :embarrassed .

Buffalo is a really good team, and a team whose quickness and defense would have given Marquette fits in years past. This year's team is becoming special. Theo John is a beast, Joey Hauser is starting to find his stroke, Morrow and Chartouny have added solid depth, and they should get Greg Elliot back soon. You know it's a deep team when Heldt rarely sees the floor.

Wisconsin, Buffalo, and K-State all top-20 teams, played the consensus #1 team in the nation Kansas tough, Louisville is never a slouch, and UMBC beat Virginia in the tourney last year. They could make a legit run... as long as they aren't the 4/5 seed in the same region as Kansas.

Looks like a down year for the Big East though. Will help minimize the losses, but hurts the strength of schedule.

I haven’t seen something like the 40 point half very often. Dan Dickau nailing 3 after 3 while covered at Santa Clara was pretty tough to watch in person. Who was the SLU guy that dropped 40 at the Bradley Center...Larry Hughes?

Sadly, it was announced after the North Dakota game that Elliot is going to sit out the entire year.

Tough to win in Cinci, but I'd take Marquette -2 or -2.5. I like Wisconsin to win their game, but I'd take Northwestern to cover. and USF -2 seems a solid pick although USD is playing tough. lots of nice matchups tomorrow

Big win at Xavier with Theo getting bit by the phantom foul bug. The next three are going to say a lot about the trajectory of the season, @Butler where they always struggle, home vs STJ, and home vs Nova. Hoping for a 2-1 stretch, 1-2 isn't the end of the world, 0-3 would really stink.

Marquette in the top 10 now. That should get them a 4 or 5 seed in the tourney shouldn't it? This is assuming they win their conference and don't have a bad loss. Could they possibly get a #3 seed? I don't think they will get a #1 or a #2 seed but I think 3-5 is possible with an almost a guarantee that they will be no lower than a 10 seed.

ESPNs latest had them at a 4 I think and Bucky as a 5.

The Big East is really bad this year. You've got Villanova and Marquette and that's about it. MU's best win this year could be Wisconsin @ home. I'd be shocked if the BE winner gets a two seed. I'm thinking 3 or 4 is more likely.

Marquette and Wisconsin have had very contrasting seasons. Marquette has lost by 20, 20, and 9. Wisconsin has lost all their games by 7 or less including 2 in OT. Marquette has just been way better closing out games which makes sense because their 3 best players are really good free throw shooters. Kenpom likes the Badgers. RPI likes Marquette. Cool to have both teams playing well again. I liked Marquette back in the day but then Crean and Buzz really rubbed me the wrong way. Wojo seems a lot better so I am slowly starting to be a fan again

A 2-seed for Marquette would assume at least 2 wins over Villanova. It's not likely but it is a possible scenario if they only lose 1 or 2 games the rest of the way.

Speaking of Wojo, with his recent success at Marquette he has to be the next Duke coach in waiting, right?

He has zero tourney wins and looks to be putting together his first good year in 5 years.

Yeah he would need a run to jump to the top of that list. I dont know if this is the year for that. Next year though.

I feel like almost any notable coach hiring (like major promotion) is a direct correlation of overachieving somewhere and making it deep.

I don’t think this is true at all. Depaul and St. John’s are the best they’ve been in years. Xavier is down quite a bit, but still a threat. Villanova has regrouped after losing all of the stars. Seton Hall, Butler, creighton, and Providence are always capable of winning on any given night. There is no bad team this year… No Penn State, Illinois, or Rutgers for comparison. The league is down a bit, due to attrition. However the reason the league doesn’t look impressive is there are no bottom feeders everyone is beating. So we should have four or five ranked teams next year as the teams gain maturity. Marquette is likely only losing Chartouny and Heldt.

Illinois just beat Maryland on the road. Depaul beat Penn State at home by 2. Seton Hall beat Rutgers by 6 at home. So, if Penn State and Rutgers are bad(which I don't think they are great), where does that put Depaul and SH?

I think you have to play well night in and night out in both conferences in order to win. I am not sure there are many gimmie wins.

That’s actually not really what I meant, but that’s my fault. I meant to portray it as the Big East has 2 really good teams and a bunch of solid teams, no bad team. The conference I chose as a reference was the Big Ten, but not with the goal of getting into a conference-pissing match. Let me refine my thoughts with a couple of bullet points instead of long-winded sentences:

-the Big Ten is the better conference this year

-the Big East has 2 outstanding teams and a bunch of solid teams

-most conferences have very weak teams

-even very weak teams can occasionally win a game, as they know conference opponents well and often have true home-court advantages

Technically both teams were on the road, as the game was at Madison Square Garden. Closer to Maryland that Champaign, IL, but not that close to Maryland - over 200 mile drive, not easy for loud students to get to. Would say it was more of a neutral site game.

Gotcha. Didnt realize that. Used my app and it said Maryland at home. Regardless, it was a drubbing.

Great win tonight. Butler has an awesome arena and a very loud, engaged crowd. Marquette has a nice little break before getting back to it next week. Nova is on the horizon twice

Yea, they played quite well. It will be interesting now that Nova seems to have found their groove. FWIW, espn has Marquette as a 3 currently.
