That's a pretty good move by the Rockies. He'll hit well there

That response genuinely made me smile.

 

I wonder though, if that brings up a bigger point. Since everyone hits well there, would the Rockies be better off putting 90% of their payroll into pitching and running out a position player lineup of mostly league minimum guys?

I'm not surprised at the deal Murphy got, but I think it's on the high end of the range I was expecting.

 

I think this is a very good deal for the Rockies IF they play him primarily at 1b. Ian Desmond is a pretty bad hitter at this point in his career and didn't warrant daily PAs at 1b. Murphy might put up a .900 OPS next year.

Absolutely not, as they still play half their games on the road...and other teams would outmash them at home.

I'd bet a team of high contact, line drive hitters would put up some good numbers. If Cain or Yelich played 81 games there they might have a shot at hitting .400.
