So much for the "multiple multi-year offers" that Cahill was apparently fielding.

 

Still, a couple of low-risk moves for the Angels with Cahill and Harvey. If they pitch well and the team is good, they'll contend for a playoff spot. If they pitch well and the team sucks, they can be flipped at the deadline as rentals. If they suck and the team sucks, they are out of those contracts in a year.

The AAV of these starting pitching are quite insane. Makes Burnes, woodruff, peralta all the more valuable imo.

I am guessing Stearns saw the offers that would be needed for guys like this and decided the trade market looked better.

Seems a bit steep for a very average pitcher. However, as other have said, a one year deal cant be THAT harmful.
