That typo was 10 million dollars which would make a pretty big difference don't you think?? Not to mention your math didn't even add up to 40 million, sigh. Also, the payroll for the Cubs is much larger so they can afford to make some pricey mistakes.

Dude made a typo. He admitted it. And I think it was pretty obvious it was a typo even from the start - especially if you add up the money totals - which you did. Then raking him because because his 'something like $40M' actually adds up to $41M? I don't get it.

Not really obvious with possible deferrals that the Brewers like to do on big free agent contracts. Then he used a contract the Cubs gave out and tried to relate that to the Brewers which is just an awful comparison.

Could I have been a little more courteous; especially on the 40 million? Perhaps.

To quote you: "Sigh"

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Fixed, let's move on.

Ignoring all your other ridiculous rudeness, the Cubs contract is one to compare to. You can make an argument the Brewers shouldn't go down that road financially (you did, and I don't totally disagree) but the Cubs contract is exactly the comparison that I'd bet Lowrie and his agent are looking at and trying to get.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Zobrist has more positional flexibility than Lowrie. Lowrie only had 14 appearances last season that were not at 2nd base (SS). Meanwhile, Zobrist had appearances in 2015 before he was a free agent at the following positions: 2B, 3B, RF and LF.

Also, there are a ton of 2B options available in free agency and via trade. (especially when compared to Zobrist's free agency) While there are many big payroll teams that would take Lowrie, there are not many that need him.

I mean Lowrie played on a team with 3 other allstar caliber infielders who all got 600+ PAs last season. Just because he wasn't used in a versatile role don't mean he isn't capable. He's played all 4 infield positions in his career so If I team wanted to use him in more of a utility infield role I would assume he's capable of filling that role.

I don't think Lowrie will get as much as Zobrist, but I agree they'll probably try to use that contract as a comp.
