Wilson Ramos to the Mets - 2 Years/$19.5m

Really disappointed we didn't get Ramos. He seemed to make so much sense and was signed for a fairly reasonable amount.

Ken Rosenthal on MLB Network this morning stated that “they (the Brewers) had a one year offer to Wilson Ramos as I understand it”. Interesting that they did in fact have an offer on the table for Ramos, and also interesting that it was only a one year offer. Are the Brewers high on Nottingham and expect him to take over in 2020? Or is there a free agent catcher next offseason that Stearns is keying in on right now?

I'm guessing it's more that Ramos, while still effective, is old for a catcher, and his knees are close to shot. Old catchers are a risk at any cost, let alone at the money Ramos got.

It might possibly be due to payroll demands after this season. There will be a lot of guys that will be getting significant raises and that will need to be paid for.
