Can he pitch?

Can he play 2nd?

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Braun's deal doesn't look so bad next to McCutchen's... granted worse D and more injury prone but still.

Absolutely zero chance he is going to sign here. I just saw he got released because they wanted him to move off SS and he resisted the move. So unless we are sticking him at SS good luck.

Absolutely zero? I'm not sure any team is going to sign him as their everyday SS. He'd have as good a chance here to rebuild some value as anywhere else.

It sort of makes sense because on a one year contract to show he's healthy he'd be a good bridge to Hiura at 2B.

So he intentionally is refusing to play anywhere else so he could get released. Then it that case he can definitely find someone else’s DL to play on.

"Troy Tulowitzki’s agent, Paul Cohen, tells me Tulowitzki would love to play in the Bay Area, is willing to change positions and would like to play for a winning team. Could be a real possibility for A’s at 2B at a mere $600,000." @susanslusser

I'd say the biggest thing to note here is that even the last couple years when he has played he hasn't hit well. Yea for league min I guess I'd rather have him than Saladino but can't really bank on anything here. Could be a good platoon partner with Shaw and insurance everywhere else on the IF.

I'd bank on the issues going much deeper than not wanting to play another position in Toronto. Nobody is happy there - on either side. I'm sure he also thinks, and rightly so, that he's a better defensive SS than the guy listed at the top of the depth chart and doesn't think he should be moved for that dude. He also knows his 38M is guaranteed so if he's released as a result then so be it as he'll get a contract somewhere.

His agent mentioned the Bay Area, which means he'll have to be a utility player covering the IF as both the As and Giants are covered everywhere + Davis at DH. Would be a great depth piece for the As though. If there was mutual interest with us I wouldn't hate it but I wouldn't be excited. Don't care if he's on the DL here and there either as we still have depth to fill in at 2b (Perez, Dubon, Saladino) holding that spot for Hiura, who will most likely be up at some point this year. Combine that with him making 600K.

It's worth looking into - and maybe for more than just one year - say, one year and a couple of team options.

Tulowitzki, if he holds at the Toronto level from 2016-2017 (.74 OPS, 94 OPS+), would have been about 125-130 points of OPS better than the 2018 version of Arcia. Not a small difference, and very acceptable off the bench.

So it's ok to disregard that Tulo did nothing last year due to injury, and use his 2016-2017 stats to determine his value, while ignoring Arcia's 2017 stats? I think that's a strong case of cherry picking.

Tulo is at league minimum, and even his bad years have decent offensive production. Taking a spring training flyer on him with the option years isn't a bad idea. If he does rebound, it becomes a bargain for us, and the BLue Jays pay for his revival in Milwaukee. :)

There is an absolute 100 pct chance that when you make absolute statements about things you have very little inside knowledge about you're going to be wrong at some points.

I don't think it's likely, but the absolute comments are a bit of a pet peeve.
