Brewers Front Office News [Zack Minasian leaving]

Eye Black

Longtime Brewers Front Office member Zack Minasian, most recently the Brewers Special Advisor to the GM for Scouting (and previously the Brewers Director of Pro Scouting), is leaving to become the Pro Scouting Director of the San Francisco Giants. Announcement made per Tweet from Andrew Baggarly.

Baggarly’s Article for The Athletic includes the following excerpt:

Zack Minasian, 34, has spent the past 14 seasons in the Brewers organization while working his way from a baseball operations assistant to minor-league scouting coordinator to an administrative position in the pro scouting ranks. A protégé of former Rangers and Brewers GM Doug Melvin, Minasian not only survived the front-office turnover that came with the hiring of David Stearns two years ago but also moved into a special-advisor position that allowed him to have a wider impact on the department while broadening his experience. Several folks in the Brewers front office were stung by Minasian’s departure and have commented that he is future GM material.

Minasian has a unique upbringing in Major League Baseball. His career began as an 11-year-old, when he began working as an assistant for his father, Zack Sr., who is the longtime clubhouse manager with the Texas Rangers.

Not just “at Night” anymore.
