4/72ish would make sense to me. SP market coming into focus a bit more

Yep. It's interesting to see the starting pitcher market develop. The prices appear to be a little higher than anticipated.

Next in line will be Keuchel, Happ and Morton. Not sure where Kikuchi fits in things.

But after those guys, you get into the next tier of starters - Gio, Miley, Sanchez, Harvey, Lynn, Holland, Pomeranz, etc.

I'm guessing the Brewers go shopping for a left hander in the latter bin as Keuchel and Happ will be getting more than we want to spend. That means Miley, Gio, Holland, Pomeranz -- probably forgotten someone, but you get the idea. With these guys we limit the money - and just as important - the years.

I definitely agree with you. A lot of the predictions had Miley and Gio getting multi year deals. Not sure if i'd be down for that, but these are the type the Brewers will probably be able to sign.

I have less than 0 interest in Gio coming back. He looked finished to me. I also don't really like Miley returning. I personally am turned off by his preseason comments. Something to the effect of, he realized his MLB career was coming to an end so he finally worked hard over the offseason to try and re-establish himself and it showed. Many players coast when given a multi-year deal, the risk of Miley coasting is so much higher given his comments. I probably have less interest in lazy players than most. If it was a 1-2 year deal for low dollars I'd consider it, but I feel like Miley is going to get 2-3 years north of $10 million per.

My first choice would be Kikuchi - going 5 years, $75 million at most ($5 million bonus, $10 million in 2019 and 2020, $15 million in 2021 and 2022, and $20 million in 2023).

After that, Miley at 3 years, $18 million with an option for a fourth year at $12 million makes a ton of sense.

Miley pitched well in a very limited sample size due to injury, after several seasons of poor performance. Any GM who hands him a 3-year/$30 million deal should be immediately fired. Jhoulys Chacin signed a 2-year $15 million deal last December coming off a stretch of much higher consistency and results. Granted I know Miley is left-handed, which will increase he value some, but I think he'd be lucky to get a similar contract to what Chacin signed for.

Ya that 2/$15m type deal was pretty common with back end type starters last off season.

Cashner 2/16

Chacin 2/15.5

Mikolas 2/15.5

Vargas 2/16
