Kratz Re-signed, Latest: Traded to SF

I mean Stearns acquired Kratz to be a secondary guy on a playoff team that nearly made the World Series. I would say there is at least a decent chance he will be the secondary guy going into Spring Training.

This guy manned SS on a team that nearly made the WS. He still around too?

I just hope he goes back to 'secondary' rather than starting 3/4 games like he was at the end of the year. We never got an explanation, maybe Pina still had lingering injury issues so they wanted to keep his games down, idk. I'd guess their plan is to go with him on the MLB barring the addition of a significant catcher like Ramos/Realmuto, etc.

Whatever, I'm not going to stomp my feet about it but yea wish we'd at least attempted to get someone who could hit respectably.

The issue isn't the deal, or the guaranteed amount of $300,000. Also, no issue in having him in the mix in ST. It's just that I'm not real high on using a 40 man spot for him.

Maybe the plan is to roll with Pina/Kratz to start the year and bring Nottingham up after a month or two. I guess worse case, if they come across another catcher who is better they can dfa Kratz and see if he stays with the org in AAA.

Couldn't agree more. I think guys like him are fairly easy to get and he was probably more interested in being here than anywhere else. It's more the timing of it than anything. Why not let him look for a major league deal somewhere and come back on a minor league deal if or, more likely, when he can't get one. We could even let him know we would sign him to one if there was nothing out there for him so he'd know there was a place for him here.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Hope he takes Posey’s job. Hell of a guy.

Thanks for your time MVK.

I still remember him turning around and thanking the home plate ump after the final out vs the Rockies. Yelling “Thank you Teddy, Bless You”. Then celebrating with Hader. Class act, wish him the best of luck in SF

The NLDS will never be forgotten.

Also, his game-tying single against Pittsburgh in the 15th.

So we have Hinojosa, Anderson and Wilkerson left from the Escobar/Cain/Odorizzi/Jefress for Greinke trade, plus Cain and Jefress.

And a 25% chunk of Christian Yelich courtesy of Isan Diaz.
