Sports talk in Milwaukee

I couldn't agree more with the Big Unit. You wait for between innings to go to your seat. Sometimes I'll try to hustle to my seat during a home run celebration when everyone is standing anyways. It blows my mind how little these fans seem to be concerned with anything but themselves.

It isn't just the fans in that section, in that video, it is this way all around the entire freaking stadium.

Watching at home has become my preferable way to watch the Brewers, the hassles involved in going to a live game have begun to outnumber the joys it brings.

I remember when the Brewers used to have ushers stationed at the top of the stairs and not allow people to go to their seats unless it was between innings. That never stopped the people from getting up during the inning and leaving, but it cut half the traffic down just by making them wait to go back...

Wish they would do this again.

Anybody following the saga of the Big Unit and his game watching experience

Worst part is that he states in the description that this "fan interference" made him miss a Travis Shaw home run. That's like missing a chance to see a real, live Yeti or something like that.

He has a right to be mad. That is atrocious. Between behavior like that at the game, and the high-resolution TV options out there that enable a near gameday experience in your living room, I'm surprised attendance isn't decreasing at a faster rate. If I were sitting in that section, I'd be frustrated as all get out.

I've been to ten different MLB stadiuims, half have had huge signs, or at least people saying, "Don't go to your seat during an At Bat" or something similar.

Don't know if Cleveland (Progressive/ Jacobs Field) is part of your listing but I can share the Signs AND the USHERS will stop the flow of people down to the seats during at-bats. People can move down between at-bats.

Nothing can be done about preventing people from leaving their seats to head to the concourse...

If i want to pay close attention to a Brewers game, i stay home and watch on my TV where i see important plays from various angles, can actually see if a pitch is a ball or strike, can pause/fast forward at my leisure, etc etc.

When i choose to attend a game, i go for different reasons. Have a fun night out with friends or family on a nice weather day or night. Tailgating. With that though, i know and expect hassles with traffic, lines for bathrooms/concessions, missing parts of the game, people in my way, lots of distractions, spending plenty of cash, etc.

Having attended about 50-60 games though at Miller Park, i've learned where i like to sit and not sit for a variety of reasons and if i can't get tickets in areas i prefer, i usually don't go unless given free tickets

Bart’s video making fun of Bill while at a Milkman game was pure gold! If you haven’t seen it, it’s on his Twitter page. I like Bart & Chuck a lot. Both are local guys from Fondy area. Always listened to Winkler on K107 before he made the switch. Outside of them, I don’t bother listening to the Fan anymore.

Kind of bizarro world that this is what Twitter is getting mad at Michaels about when he is actually right. I can't stand the guy and he says a lot of dumb things but this is not it.

I actually putzed through the replies to his post, and a significant majority seem to agree with him. I see the occasional "I bought a ticket, I should be able to come and go from my seat whenever I want"...but what else can you do but roll your eyes and move on from that level of selfish/self-centered?

I was say that pretty much everybody doesn't understand the etiquette on when to come and go from your seats. I didn't understand it until I was in my early 20's and we would go to opposing ball parks where the ushers wouldn't let anyone go to their seats. Milwaukee doesn't enforce it so most if not pretty all don't know.

On this similar subject. What about playoff baseball where usually a younger adults have seats say in row 8 or 9 and want to stand for pretty much every pitch?

That's like saying "I bought a ticket, I should be able to stand at my seat the entire game." Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD.

(I know you don't feel this way, just piggybacking on your post)

I can't stand Bill Michaels but he's right about this one. Miller Park ushers need to do more to keep people from returning to seats during an AB.

On the other hand, the people on the other side of the aisle aren't having much of an issue :)

I'm with Michaels on this.

But this is what live baseball is now. Boring, slow moving non-action. Fans have no reason to NOT get up to get food, etc. There's nothing happening on the field to hold their interest. They are behaving rudely, but not out of any dislike of others, but because they are less interested in the product on the field than they are in other things.

This doesn't happen as much at basketball, hockey or football games. But 2019 baseball isn't something that holds their attention.

well it can't happen in hockey because the ushers have stop signs while puck in play. it does happen in basketball.

It does happen in hockey because ushers are very hit and miss.

Chuck Freimund and Bill "Baby Tausch" Schmidt part of nationwide Entercom layoffs today. What a shame, 2 of the best of 105.7/1250....Looks like it didnt take Freems long, as he will have some role on 97.3 the game, and I'm sure Baby Tausch will be just fine

Not sure what criteria they used to determine who stayed and who went, but it appears they hung onto their more "controversial" personalities, at the expense of the guys who are more professional.
