BF.net Fan Community Top 25 Prospects Poll - 2018 Post-Season Edition - Voting closed

reillymcshane

Here's my top what turned out to be 113. The prospects are grouped by OFP, which is based on scouting reports and adjusted for risk level, age relative to league, defense, and a number of production metrics. I tried to stay out of the way of the data as much as possible so no one got any special adjustments - if I made a change to any of the formulas, the change was made globally. If I don't have a scouting report from an outside source and I haven't seen the player myself, the player got a max base OFP of 35. Statistical adjustments were made based on both current year and 3-year production timeframes.

If you're unaware, OFP stands for Overall Future Potential and is more or less synonymous with FV (Future Value). It's a player's scouting grades condensed into one catch-all future potential grade. I would call a grade of anything less than 35 an organizational player, so players with OFPs of 30 and under are not included here. These OFP grades are fluid, though. Players move between 30, 35, and 40 pretty regularly.

You have this new Jesus on your list as well? I look at the numbers, and I put him at #12. Yes it's DSL, but that bat looks special at catcher, and very very good at first base.

I am very high on Zach Brown, Aaron Ashby, Trey Supak and Braden Webb being the next group of young starters who come knocking at the MLB door in the next two seasons. Drew Rasmussen really intrigues me as well. It is my hope that he has better luck than Nate Kirby coming back from his college injury woes. Still have a lot of hope for Kirby, though, too.

I also love Lutz. I think this is the year he establishes himself at a top 25 prospect in all of MLB. The ball jumps off that kid's bat, and he's go a little of that Mike Trout look to him.
