1 K. Hiura

No 1a & 1b..... this year Keston dominates this spot my wide margin

2 Z. Brown

Another one of those college ares with bad numbers and major control issues that the Brewers have corrected just like Woodruff!

3 C. Ray

Healthy Ray is a good Ray. If he can take another step this year by cutting down Ks he will be the top notch guy we thought we were drafting.

4. T. Lutz

From Day 1 I’ve been in love and he has yet given me me to waver. Rough adjustment at first but got better all season.

5. B. Turang

I always think Trae Turner, 100% of the time. Walks, doesn’t K a ton, great speed, good not elite average & power. I’m happy with a Trae

6. A. Ashby

By end of 2019, I believe he will be in Burnes, Brown type rapid climb, top prospect status. Guy is good!

7. L Erceg

I want Erceg to be guy we all hope he will but has yet to really do it. Flashes the past 2 years but really needs to bust out.

8. M. Dubon

Was a stud to start year before ACL, hope he picks up where he left off

9. J Nottingham

Calmed down a “few” of the Krush Davis enthusiast who still complain about trade. Hope he gets a real chance this year to roll with Pina

10. M. Diplan

Most frustrating pitcher in system to me. Brilliant & terrible back & forth but man, he is still really young! Just throw a few strikes please

11. T. Taylor

Finally he bounced back! Splits home & away say we should trade home to Colorado but Crew happy enough to give 40 man spot

12. T. Supek

Continues to impress & rise. Think we won Rogers trade just a little bit

13. B. Webb

I called Sheets on draft day & when he throws strikes & you see highlights of that 94-95 fb & then mixes in fall off the earth curve..... love it

14. T. Stokes

The Michael Brantley of system who gets over looked for playing with the Cain’s of system but he is just an impressive player

15. J. Gatewood

As a teacher & coach, hard not to love a kid who works and makes improvements every year..... power is still top notch in system

16. C. Rodriquez

Kid is just exciting, think he will blossom into a real get for us. He just has such a great bat. Excited to follow.

17. T. Grisham

Figure it out by next ballot or you are gone. Walks only get you so far. Hit the ball

18. P. Henry

Thanks to performance & Super Mario’s injuries, think he is lead dog as next wave catching prospect until Mario steals it back

19. M. Feliciano

See above

20. J. Gray

Forget average and rough start, kid has potential to explode. All tools, outside average and terrible babip he was solid

21. C. Lemons

He is a project & as we have seen with Ashby, Z. Brown and so many others... Helena stats mean nothing.

22. QTC

Best reliever in system who will help MLB this season hopefully

23. A. Houser

Power arm in pen who fits Brewers bullpen/ starter role well. Healthy & hopefully gets back to dominate ways.

24. M. Bello

Reminds me so much of Tyrone Taylor. Think that is the prospect he is.

25. J. Ward

Big step this year & be interesting if he can do it again on young T-Rat team

Proud member since 2003 (geez ha I was 14 then)

FORMERLY BrewCrewWS2008 and YoungGeezy don't even remember other names used

Surprised the number of lists so far without Braden Webb.

Great point. Initially his High A ERA got me but you’re right, on a deeper dive he’s got some good deeper stats and upside. He could be a nice weapon out of the pen at a minimum and with his tools you never know. I updated my list based on your comment. Thanks.

EDIT: I meant to put my first list in the transactions forum, my second list into the Majors forum and my 3rd list into the Minors forum. This is all quite confusing.

(Note: I've always assumed that there are people on this site who actually have valid opinions about this sort of thing, and there are many, many more who are more like myself. I feel like us in the latter category should get more like 3/5ths of a vote or something.)

Oxy, what Garcia are you referring to with vote #23? I'm guessing Eduardo Garcia, but would you clarify as there are other Garcias in the Brewer org. Thanks.

I thought it over some, but some pitchers either had better performance, had what I consider a higher ceiling, or in some cases, a higher floor. Scott Sunitsch, for instance, really has me excited in terms of the rotation, and I see couple of relievers (Andrews, Olczak) who could become new versions of Hader, although I salivate over the thought of Andrews stretching out as a starter. I know he's only 5'6", practically Tyrion Lannister in terms of MLB players, but I think he could be a real good initial out-getter.

1. Keston Huira: seems so obvious, I just wonder about that arm/elbow

2. Brice Turang: I’m betting his “no one standout tool” equals a well balanced major leaguer

3. Tristan Lutz: this guy owns the warning track with his line drives; when he adds a few feet they’ll be banging off the wall, another few feet and they’re over the fence

4. Lucas Erceg: when he finds consistency we can all get excited

5. Zack Brown: solid end of the rotation guy

6. Payton Henry: love this guy’s game, lithe, a little whip in his bat, another Lucroy?

7. Jacob Nottingham: health please

8. Adrian Houser: another reliever in the pipeline, it seems like we’re really starting to stockpile bullpen and catchers

9. Trey Supak: seems like he’s got more in his trunk than Brown, but maybe not the make up—why does he seem fragile to me?

10. Corey Ray: I hope I’m wrong, there’s a reason I’m not a talent scout, but nothing about him gives me hope for anything other than an athletic back up, maybe

11. Chad McClanahan: seems so teachable

12. Jake Gatewood

13. Mauricio Dubon: don’t like that injury given he’s probably got to maximize every attribute he’s got

14. Aaron Ashby: another 3,4,5 with a potential ko breaking ball, loved watching him in person, really composed

15. Je’Von Ward: here’s hoping for that rangy, medium power, base stealer who can play both corners well

Yeah, I hear you about Gray. I felt a little guilty rating him that low, but it’s just a personal prejudice. He’s off the charts physically and he can’t hit the ball. If he hits eventually, he’s an absolute monster and I’m ecstatic to be wrong.

Gray has shown some OBP skills (18 BB vs. 77 ABs), but there's obviously holes in the swing (25 K in 77 AB).

I think you have Ray and Dubon more appropriately placed than most who have them too high. I'd bump Gray higher than you have him as well. Overall, nice list.

It depends on what you value and relative value. Ray could be higher on some lists simply because they aren't as high on the others, and one of the problems with rank is that it doesn't tell you distance. Rank order is about relative value and they have to place someone at that spot.

Some people make these lists simply on upside. Others place more weight on risk or distance from majors. I personally give more weight to production at AA or above, and will rate guys at AA/AAA who may only project to be bench/bullpen guys higher than DSL/rookie/low-A guys who have a higher upside but high risk and mediocre production; I've seen too many guys flame out at AA (or even A+) to get real excited about the upside of HS draft picks or high bonus international signings. The Brewers don't have a strong track record of developing either (Lara, Grisham, Walters, Medeiros, Gatewood, Harrison, Devin Williams, Neuhaus, Coulter, Tyrone Taylor, etc.). I also give more weight to how difficult it is to find good players at that position (C, SS, 3B I value more than corner OF, 1B, 2B).

This isn't the place to debate individual prospects, but despite Lutz being younger, looking at stats (K%, BB%, wRC, wOBA, ISO) and factoring in level of competition (AA vs. low-A) and defensive value (Ray has a chance to stick at CF whereas Lutz is a corner OF), it's not unreasonable at all to rank Ray higher than Lutz, depending on what people value.

This is one of the better ones I've seen. I'm too lazy to do one myself, but I'd have Lutz, Z Brown, and Turang 2-4 in that order. I love the Brewers top 4 with those 3 and Hiura. I think you have Ray and Dubon more appropriately placed than most who have them too high. I'd bump Gray higher than you have him as well. Overall, nice list.

I had Ray higher than Lutz, largely because he did seem to put it all together and was at a higher level. I placed Stokes over Ray because Stokes has been at a very solid performance level over two seasons (Ray just has 2018).

That said, Medeiros and Harrison both seemed to be putting it together when they were traded. Taylor and Gatewood also have been putting it together, albeit both were delayed by injury. Grisham could still put it together.

Harrison - so far - has struggled big time with the jump to AA. 37% K rate this past season, only 7.5% BB rate, and a somewhat generous (but not egregious) BABIP. Thus why I give more weight to production at AA or above - the jump from A to AA is arguably the biggest jump from level to level perhaps with the exception of AAA to the majors.

He's a great athlete, but is he a baseball player?

I think he'll be a poor man's version of Keon Broxton.
