The way the defense is holding up right now is nothing short of incredible.

I hated the Haha trade until I thought about it for a second. I don't want to give him a 4 year 48 million dollar deal...which he'll likely get. I'd like to see us go and get a Clowney if we could get him for 6/100 with "only" about 45 guaranteed. He's someone become underrated.

BUT I think this team has the young pieces that if they have ONE great draft like, ala, 2017 Saints, they're a contender again with all the young talent they at WR'er(Scantling and St. Brown look LEGIT), the RB's, the scattered talent in their secondary. Not sure who it'll be, but I think Jackson and Alexander are gonna be two staples. I think King is a #1 CB if he could stay healthy but he hasn't and Jones could be a stud if he play without having to think and then you've got Clark, Daniels, Lowery up front.

They really NEED to get a superstar(like Mack woulda been) and a couple more pieces and with the draft capital you have this year and salary cap room....you should be good.

And as I type all this, Scantling comes up with TWO huge plays...

All this to say, this isn't a SB team, but there will be no more important off-season with the 2 firsts, the extra 4th and the other draft picks to get this 34 year old QB in position to win a SB and have a window that could open up for 3-4 years if they get it right.

Looks to be a very good 2018 draft so far.

And that's without the guy who most predicted would have the biggest IMMEDIATE impact in James Madison. Now I don't know what the hell is going on with the guy, but I'm guessing it's some psychological or drug related issue(no reason to not comment and just say personal if he has some type of illness of the body).

Now they just need to duplicate that again in 2019 with the extra picks and sign either Barr(who I think is one of the most talented and poorly used players in the NFL) or Clowney.

Had to add Barr to my previous rant....

I think it also suggests the Packers will be active in free agency. If they lose HHCD but sign free agents, those will offset and they won't get a pick for losing HHCD. This way they get a guaranteed pick, and can sign free agents.

For 8 years, I’ve been wondering why the Packers don’t let Randall Cobb pass once every few games. The media stiffs say you don’t take the ball out of your best player’s hands. Yet, it appears that other good teams let non-QBs pass once in a while.

This is the first season in a while that the majority of the disappointment rests with the offense IMO. They have not closed games, have disappeared for 50-75% of some games, and just have not had a rhythm.

The final and stats of this game will betray the defense. They kept us in this one, offense did not help at all.

And also why McCarthy will be fired. It's his masterful offense that's been awful.

That's a very good point. I was thinking about how they'd likely be losing Clay(he still thinks he's worth 13.5 million per) and Cobb most likely(hasn't been a 10 million per year guy in a while).

The move we'll be kicking ourselves for years will be NOT getting Mack. With a guy like him, he covers up so many mistakes elsewhere on your D. The Packers D in the 90's was NOT great. Them having to pay so much attention to Reggie made it great. It made aging Sean Jones and Dotson get single coverage...and Gilbert was a nice run stuffer. But other than Reggie, LeRoy and Brian Simmons for ONE year were the only difference makers. Mack woulda given us that.

So now we have to find that. Be it Barr/Clowney or using our draft picks to move up and try to get a guy like Nick Bosa...we need another star on this team.

And I'm sure I'm in the minority who believe that Barr is that good, but I think he's the perfect OLB'er for this team...he's a natural pass rusher, but is not used as one very often, but also good in coverage. And an athletic freak.

Unbelievable to think it was tied 17-17 to start the 4th quarter AND the Packers were driving. That’s the Packers’ season in a nutshell. They have the talent to keep things interesting, but luck hasn’t been on their side and they have yet to string together a solid 60 minutes of play. I’m still optimistic about 2019 and beyond (10 picks, lots of cap room), but the sun is setting on yet another season with Rodgers at the helm.

McCarthy is one of the best coaches in the league. McCarthy is one of the best coaches in Packers history.

But..as Walsh said...you have a lifespan of 10 years in the NFL. After that, your message gets stale. Look at Andy Reid. He was run outta Philly after 5 trips to the NFCG...and now his offense looks brand new after a few years in KC. I think MM will be similar. I just hope we can hit on the FIRST coach we hire after MM and not waste 2-3 more years in the meantime.

They’re due for a new coach, but MM deserves the gold watch treatment. Thank you for XLV, Coach. If John Harbough gets let go for the same reason, I’d like to see the Packers seriously consider him. I want to know for sure that the next guy is capable of winning a Super Bowl.

There is just no creativity on offense. I'm not talking about trick plays, just so little misdirection, picks, etc. It's like let's all run down field and float around until Rodgers scrambles or throws a back shoulder fade.

I will never believe McCarthy is one of the best coaches in the league.

Ok, but all evidence suggests he is. But there were also people who believed that Capers was a poor coordinator and that it wasn't that we didn't have a man in the secondary who could cover a cardboard cutout of Julio Jones, much less the real thing....

I do blame a lot of this on Rodgers himself. This offense gets humming when he doesn't ALWAYS look for the big play. When he get the ball and runs MM's offense....like when he's hurt for example, he looks that much better.

Now I don't BLAME Rodgers, but he can be too gready at times. He scrambles when he has 7-8 years on 1st down and he doesn't need to in order to try and get those big plays on the scramble drill.

Now I'm not blaming Rodgers for our lack of success AT ALL, but I do think that he kinda scraps what's working in terms of sustaining drives at times in favor of looking for that back breaker.

I won't even bother to guess who the Packers might hire because the top guys pop up out of nowhere so often. McDaniels might actually leave to take the job...then you'd have to worry about him leaving to go BACK, but look at the Rams and Raiders. One hired a 32 year old unproven coach who has turned a team that has been very talented for years and turned them into a top SB contender, and the Raiders hired a guy who was supposedly a "great" coach and he's just a giant flop.

I'd like to see a young guy who is fearless....hell, maybe even pry Peterson away from Philly with the promise of a Coach/VP title(the only way I believe without permission which surely wouldn't be granted) or another young guy who has some new idea's.

This season is over IMO. The division is too good. But look at how the Chiefs, Saints and other teams turned their rosters over in a short period of time by hitting on their draft picks. They have to be PERFECT this year in their moves or, to use another Ron Wolf quote, the Rodgers era is gonna be nothing more than a "fart in the win." One SB title, and then several blown chances. Basically the opposite of the Pats.

Defense looked gassed in the 4th.

One of the best in the league because he piggybacked off Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers and ran up his career wins total? We've thrown away another year of Aaron Rodgers doing this stupidity. The guy is unimaginative, won't play his best players, and is flat garbage.

Belichick won with Matt Cassel. Tomlin won with Landry freaking Jones. Zimmer won with Case Keenum and whoever else on the QB carousel over there. Pete Carroll as much as I hate him is a better coach. Sean McVay is running circles around McCarthy and pretty much the rest of the league. Sean Payton is a good coach. Nagy is pulling a miracle with Trubisky. Mike McCarthy has aborted seasons with Brett Hundley among others. Give me a break on the best coaches in the league stuff, he's barely top 10.

Elite coaches don't plant players like Aaron Jones on the bench while continuing to force guys like Randall Cobb in there who is washed up aside from a couple fluke bombs the past few years implanted in our memories. Only the idiots like the Dolphins, Browns, Bengals, etc coaches do.
