College World Series Discussion Thread

Let's try to keep CWS-related thoughts in this thread... the Draft board is already quite crowded.

Georgia/Georgia Tech was a great game, FSU/Arkansas has been a great game, and now on ESPN we get to see Vandy and Texas. All this wonderfulness, and we're only in the super-regionals. J.P. Howell (first round pick of KC) is on the mound for Texas against super-duper-wonder-kid Jeremy Sowers. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

EDIT: Sowers just got knocked around for five runs in the second against Texas. The Longhorns offense is mighty good... I don't think they'll have any trouble getting past Vanderbilt and they've gotta be a favorite to win the CWS. J.P. Howell looks really good...

Check it out.

Weaver and his gigantic blonde mane are currently on display on ESPN2.

Flip on over... the Cubs are also playing the Angels on WGN. It's an embarassment of riches, I tell 'ya.

Miami is taking it all with Gaby Sanchez, Ryan Braun, Jim Burt(I think should had been drafted in a earlier round then were he was) Jon Jay, Adam Ricks, Brian Barton, Erick San Pedro and the list goes on forever.

Im a big Miami Sport Fan (even in basketball)

The only team I think that can beat them is Texas.

Whats up with all the hit batters!

I like the way the Titans are rolling right now. They get SC next. Then CSF will take on Texas in what I think shakes out to be a great Championship series.

Man, I just can't believe the "1990's Atlanta Braves strike zone" the umps are giving the pitchers. Seems like pitchers are getting an extra 6 to 8 inches of plate on the outside corner. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif

I did a crappy job of keeping this updated... oh well - next year. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif

I agree, 11, about the strike zone. There have been some stunningly gigantic zones that literally extend from the inside chalk of the left-hand batters box to the inside chalk of the right-hand batters box. Some of the pitches that are being called strikes are nearly unhittable. It's crazy. Add in the wind blowing in most nights, and the home runs are down like 7,000,000 %.

I watched some of Billy Buckner's start yesterday and he was impressive again. I wish the Brewers would have made him their second round choice, as I think he'll progress through the system pretty quickly. He might not have a ton of upside, but he's a solid pitcher and I think the Royals are lucky to have him.

Georgia/Texas today has all the makings of a huge upset. The Horns are a sweet, sweet team but the Dawgs could give them all they can handle.

Fun CWS this year.
