2018 Award Season

Having previously enjoyed the pleasure of spending some time talking to and getting to know Curtis Granderson, I was happy when he was acquired late in the year. Knew he'd be the best clubhouse addition in the game at the very least and said as much here. He was all that and more, coming up with some big at bats for the Crew.

 

Today he won the Marvin Miller Man of the Year award for an unprecedented 3rd time. Congrats CG, well deserved!

This is random, but I took a look back at Christian Yelich’s final numbers from his MVP season and realized how eerily similar his season was offensively to Joey Votto’s lone MVP season. Similarly to Yelich, Votto also won the award in his age 26 season. Walks (Votto) and stolen bases (Yelich) are probably the biggest discrepancies, but overall the counting stats are very similar.
