Manny Machado's Game 7 Crotch Grab

bani1717
WWE has been doing things crotch grab/suck it related for 20 years now and their primary demographic is kids. It's not much of a big deal at all, it's certainly not going to warp a generation because they saw a guy grab his junk. It's just a cocky (pun intented) thing to do. It is what it, big time athletes have egos and often want to talk back especially when they're getting relentlessly bood. Heck, in baseball players constantly grab their junk just to adjust.

Well, I certainly don't want to start using WWE as the standard as to what acceptable on field behavior should be for baseball (or any other actual sport). I don't think there is any excuse for what Machado did (either crotch grab or trying to injure another player), but I see no purpose or good coming from being brought down to his level and trying to retaliate in some future game. I would much rather see the players union and the owners agree that there needs to be much bigger penalties for these types of on field activities.

User in-game thread post in 1st inning of 3rd game of the 2022 season: "This team stinks"

Right, every sport can have their own rules and what they have as acceptable on their field of play. This just speaks to the notion of it's offensive and "oh my god there is kids in the audience" type views, this is nothing compared to what's out there in the world that kids see every day. That was the point. Many parents probably said things more offensive in front of their kids while complaining/heckling/complaining about Machado than the act Machado actually committed. Grand scheme of things, this isn't really any different than what Pina did after that big double he got in LA, or all the celebrating MKE does after big hits. If we didn't make a big deal out of it acting all offended then it wouldn't be a big deal, it would be over and most innocent kids wouldn't even know.

The real thing to be upset with Machado about is the intentionally kicking of Jesus. Along with past dirty things like the slides, hitting Cs with the bat, etc. Not this stupid stuff, this is just something angry fans can latch onto and make a big fuss about nothing and get on their preachy high horses about without looking in the mirror.

Lmao, if Machado put on a Brewers uniform and OPS'd .975 with 38 homers we'd all forget about his issues real quick. Myself included. Jerry Sandusky is a dirt bag, Manny Machado is just a bit of your classic arrogant showman pro athlete.

We got beat. I thought all the hubbub about it was weak while the series was going on; it is even weaker now.

Yeah, the Sandusky sign was completely idiotic. And not even a tiny bit funny.

IM NOT TRYING TO START SOMETHING, but I think Braun proves we will cheer for anyone that is on the Brewers. Or Nyjer Morgan or Carlos Gomez (though I loved his antics) or Fransisco Rodriguez. I am probably missing a few recent ones. If we can cheer for guys after what they did...pretty sure grabbing your junk is okay and anything is okay if it would have sent us to the World Series.

If Machado was on the Brewers it would have been "Yaaaaaaaaah take that Dodgers!! haha suck it!!!! Scoreboard!!! Scoreboard!!! Go sit at home and watch us in the World Series!!! MACHADO!!!!!" Everyone probably would have been doing the same gesture to their TV with a Miller Lite in the other hand.

Okay maybe not that much in love with him...but you get the point.

The only thing that is going to bug you even if he is on your team is the hustling thing...and his comment about it afterwards was pretty, well, bad.

I won't comment on Machado himself, but the "You still suck!" chant in Game 7 was epic.

I don't think it bothered him too much.

25 years old, 4 time All-Star, 2 time gold glover, going to the World Series, and about to get paid big time this off-season.

That said, Manny Machado is not a good person.

I'm not a full supporter of beaning guys but I don't oppose it either. If you have a guy doing what Manny did in this series, doing things that could injure guys like his slides on Orlando or kicking Aguilar's leg, doesn't the team have to do something since the league does absolutely nothing about it?

I always like to go back to when Grandpa Ken was running the team. Prince and Weeks were getting drilled a lot (I know Rickie was way over the plate but he and Prince got hit almost twice as much in 2010 as most of their other seasons). You could tell Prince was getting sick of it as he would be quite visibly upset when he got hit. So Macha writes a letter to the league complaining about it. Basically does nothing about it so nothing changes.

I don't have an answer for how you're supposed to handle teams and players that play dirty. You could do nothing and just complain about it and come off looking like whiny losers while the dirty stuff still happens. Or you could drill a guy and maybe the stuff stops. I totally get the opposition to throwing a ball at someone for retaliation. But at some point you have to stand up for yourself if those with the power to discipline do nothing.

Watch a little Sportscenter this morning, and the WS preview, leads off to Machado injuring Pedroia, the retaliation of 2pitches thrown behind him.

MLB needs to step in. Or as Im for Brewers/other teams need to retaliate until MLB takes notice and does. I cant understand defending against doing so when he

A. Slid into 2nd base/Arcia so far past he couldnt even touch the base. Was Out on force out doing this "slide"

B. Is being thrown out at first by nearly 2steps, and clearly drags his left foot while running past 1b to clip Aguilar's foot.

This is intent to harm, not aggressive, smart, heads-up, baseball play.

He shouldnt been playing game 7 if MLB did the right thing. A bunt single followed by HR began the Brewers loss in it.

Bean him. You want to take one of our team down, we'll take you down for trying.

For the, You play to win the game, and putting him on first doesnt accomplish that" Not every game/situation is the outcome up for grabs. Up or down 5runs or more, 4or more heading to 9th, 2outs 0men on base, or even runner on 2b and your about to give an IBB, you bean the dirtbag at those moments. Anything to raise attention that how Machado plays is wrong and needs punishment, by you MLB, or by our justice.

Braun paid his price and doesn't do the kind of stuff Machado does on the field. Morgan is a nut case but basically harmless. I don't recall Gomez trying to purposely kick an opponent in the ankle. I for one am glad we don't have that creep on our roster. LA can have him.

100% agreement.

We have never had a player with this level of punkiness on our roster before.

Hope we never do.

I hope his actions cost him 10's of millions on his next contract.

They won't.

Agreed, he'll get his, then the team that pays him can deal with his crap...

The Yankees spend with Monopoly money. I predict he'll be a Yankee next year.

yup, makes perfect sense.

Didi is out for what seems to be the majority of next season, and they have endless cash to spend.

If not the Yankees, I can also see the Cubs as a player.

I also wonder the attention this gets towards Machado sliding in to Arcia, dragging his foot to kick Aguilar, if it were say Yelich at 2b or Cain at 1b. 6+WAR players who are better than Machado, paid handsomely, whereas Arcia/Aguilar are Pre-Arb not thought of highly 2WAR types. Arcia was in AAA multiple times this season. Aguilar a waiver wire player.

I wonder how MLB would react had he injured a Yelich type player.

The cynic is me says if it was superstar there would be punishments and rule changes ala the Buster Posey rule. But then again I don't even remember the name of the guy that Utley injured that led to rule changes.
