Those 1-2 fastballs both to Turner and Machado had way too much of the plate for my liking. Glad there was no harm done.

Absolutely love the day that Machado is having and loving that we are letting him hear it with every single strike.

Huge moment there! Great work Corey!

I have to think he comes out for the 6th now, unless his spot comes up in the order.

I like Soria, Burnes, Hader, Jeffress all throwing 1 so they can still go tomorrow. I doubt that happens though.

I'd guess everyone they want for tomorrow is going to stick to one inning.

Problem is you gotta make sure you play tomorrow. Miley blowing up in the 5th inning really screwed up saving guys.

Problem with that is what happens when you pull a guy who is doing good and the next one sucks? You almost have to go with the hot hand if they are on.

I really hope that Woodruff and Burnes are not groomed into 5 inning guys next year in the rotation...

I think I agree with that. If the future plan is to only have the starter go no more than twice through the lineup, they are probably better off finding guys like Miley, and keeping arms like Woodruff and Burnes in the pen for multiple innings in higher leverage spots, but pitching more frequently than every 5 days. I've kinda done a 180 on this seeing the plan work so well this year.

Still, having good starting pitching is not a dying art form. I think Burnes has the kind of stuff to be a potential ace. Maybe not as electric as Hader, but he has a full starter's arsenal of pitches. Woodruff too.

What happens if you put him back out and he sucks? Just be wise on how you use guys.
