The team's first true "MUST WIN" of the year.

I sure have enjoyed all the "It sure would be nice if they wins", though. I'm sure the tension is going to increase throughout the day, but right now, things are quite nice.

Oddly I have less tension, and have felt that way since Game 5 began. Lower expectations etc. I've made peace with losing this game and since I went with "lose NLCS" in the preseason predictions thread it is hard to be too upset. Small markets must seize opportunities, but I feel confident they will compete in a few of the next five seasons. Overtaking the Cubs and getting to this point were great moments. It was an awesome year, hopefully they have a few more moments in them. Around 11 pm I am either fondly recalling the season or getting ready for round 2.

I more confident than I probably should be. Dodgers haven't been able to hit Miley all year.

This is where I am.

I fully expect a win tonight...

Does CC take Miley out after one batter and bring in Chacin and Miley pitches tomorrow??? Hmmmm....(this is where I think of Dr. Evil putting his pinky finger to his mouth)

That would be the ultimate managerial troll job. I doubt he pulls it two games in a row, but it would be fun if he did, just to hear Joe Buck's disgusted response.

In reality, Smoltz seems to the one exasperated by this and Buck just seems to chuckle at this exasperation.

Everyone is down because we need to win two, and remember this exact situation in 2011 all too well. But we really just need one today first. After that, the perspective will totally change.

In a 7-game MLB series, home teams down 3-2 are 11-8 in game 6. Those teams that win game 6 are 8-3 in game 7.

Win today, and we get one game at home to go to the World Series.

Let’s goooooooooo!

Mildly interesting side note:

This is the Brewers 3rd 7-game series in their history. In each series, the road team has taken a 3-2 advantage. In the previous two, the Brewers were the home team once and the road team once...and they lost both.

Time for the law of averages to start averaging.

I would absolutely love if this happened. That would mean Chacin would pitch today on short rest though which would be kind of pointless since we have to win today and tomorrow anyways.

I am trying to take a zen approach to tonight - whatever happens, will happen and i'm going to enjoy it. Win, great! Lose, it's been an amazing season that has far exceeded any realistic expectations I could have had, and we've proved to be an even match with the Dodgers. I'm sure once I get to the stadium that will all go out the window and I'll be a nervous wreck of course!

Guess for the lineup given Ryu's reverse splits:

1. Cain CF

2. Yelich RF

3. Braun LF

4. Shaw 2B

5. Aguilar 1B

6. Moustakas 3B

7. Kratz C

8. Arcia SS

9. Miley P

If Miley has a good start (5 innings, 1 run), we can afford to trot out Hader, Knebel, Jeffress for multiple innings each. Dodgers are going to need great pitching to beat us today if they can't hit Miley.

Agreed, I have definitely appreciated yesterday's off day and am trying my best to get away from the pessimistic "they'd still have to win tomorrow" attitude and more just say that any day with a Brewers postseason game is a great day to be alive.

I'll be there tonight and hopefully tomorrow, and if that's it then at least I'll have gotten to see the last game(s) of the season for this extraordinary team, and get super excited for what is possible in 2019.

And should things fall right, then the REAL fun begins....

I can understand going with Kratz, but I'd prefer to get Pina in there for the offense. I also like the idea of going Santana in Aguilar's spot with Braun at 1b, I just don't think it happens. Also there's an outside chance they go Perez at 2b and Shaw at 1b with Perez hitting 5th. Both Santana and Perez are probably less than 5% chance of happening, this is probably the lineup with the most likely variation being at catcher.

That's the approach I use for all big games across all sports. Try to stay positive and optimistic no matter what. Then mid game I am losing my dang mind!
