Miller Park Environment for NLCS Games 6 & 7

Eye Black

The Brewers are two wins at home away from playing in the 2018 World Series.

For those that plan to attend these upcoming games, which have the potential to be two of the most important games in franchise history, I am curious how animated and vocal you expect to be during them? For the couple of playoff games I have attended thus far the crowd has been lively for the big moments, but also subdued during other long stretches. This is anecdotal, but at the NLDS game I attended the crowd seemed to want to stand and cheer more often. At the NLCS game I attended it seemed like 2/3 of the crowd in my section wanted to stand and cheer often while the other 1/3 wanted those people to sit down while they watched the game. I was willing to go either way, and I don’t think you necessarily have to stand in order to cheer, but it was certainly much louder when the crowd stood for big moments.

I am a little surprised the Brewers haven’t used more crowd prompts to engage the fans. They have done some, “Wave your Towel” messaging on the video board, but I don’t believe they have tried to spark much cheering beyond that. I personally could do without the rally towels, but I know many people really like them. I would rather have a crowd that is cheering on the home team at every opportunity than waving the towels, but hopefully more people are able to multitask than I am giving credit to.

Anyway, a Game 6 and Game 7 of the NLCS at home doesn’t come around very often. I realize baseball isn’t a sport where spectators typically cheer as frequently as other sports, but I am curious if that will change for these last two high stakes games?

Not just “at Night” anymore.

NLDS I was near the field and stood half the time. NLCS Game 1 was different, there seemed to be more tension. I was in club for that and people kept shouting at other to sit down, which frankly is annoying to me. If someone in front of you stands, stand. This isn't opera nor is it your living room.

I think tomorrow night will be rocking, but shift quickly to doom & gloom if they surrender runs early etc. If they take an early lead it will be electric. This is the most important game for the Brewers to grab an early lead this year.

I won't be going and gave my tickets to my boss but will go if there is a G7. Just too much travel back and forth and watching baseball the last 3 weeks, and I live an hour away. I have neglected family the last few weeks, and when the best outcome is a tied series I would rather just catch that at home and save the time. These games are like 8 hour commitments with how long I have been stuck in the lot afterwards.

I'm guessing my attendance plan is a popular plan among those with tickets to both games but there should be no problem filling the place. Should be a lot of good deals for tickets for Friday.

I was at NLDS game 2. I didn't think it was as loud as game one (at least game 1 seemed louder), but I would guess game 1 would tend to be more loud than a game 2. Lots of standing for big moments which was good. Some clowns tried starting the wave. That was not so good.

I'd imagine Friday night is a great environment, but I agree an early lead would be huge. Saturday would be unreal.

Just like every other game this postseason. If we are winning/tied people will be strong. If we are losing or are blowing/blew a big lead depression will filter through the crowd.

People will get really quiet if we start losing and if the offense shows up like a beached whale I would be the second half of the game could include boo birds...which honestly at this point they kind of deserve if they fail to score runs.

Tickets for tomorrow are on StubHub for below face. I’m really worried it’s going to be a graveyard, especially if we get down early. I expect a lot of nervous tension (that I will be contributing to!).

My question is ... if Yelich continues to lay an ostrich-sized egg in this series, does he hear (and deserve) being booed? I mean, he put this team on his back in September to get them to this point, but he's been downright horrible in this series. Striking out yesterday with runners on 2nd and 3rd with one down, against a pitcher he has owned, was downright awful. But then again, he never would have been in that spot without his otherworldly 2nd half production.

I hope he gets hot, and the point is moot.

I don't think the crowd would necessarily boo any specific person. I'm just guessing if our offense is a joke tomorrow again and you strike out to end the 7th on a ball in the dirt you are going to hear it in a general sense as a displeasure with the entire offense as a whole.

It will be a positive environment until they fall behind in a game, then it will get quiet and if they start falling behind by more than a couple runs I can see the dumb bandwagon jumpers starting to boo.

I think the “Wave your Towel” prompts have pretty much just been when the TV coverage starts and they show sweeping shots of the crowd. Didn't notice many if any during the actual game.

This is difficult for me to understand. NLCS games 6 and 7 should be a HOT ticket always.

People aren't excited. Simple as that.

Yes, that's obvious. Even with a struggling offense, it is hard for me to understand why.

To sell out any venue for anything charging ~$100 a seat you need to have mass appeal to casual fans who can afford to do that. Most people can't. That fire goes way down when they start losing games even in a situation like this. Looks like I will be taking a loss on Game 6 too. If there is a bright side to the recent slide it is that a lot of fans will get to go who otherwise wouldn't. Crowd should be just fine either way.

I was at last Friday’s game 1 and I didn’t think it was anywhere near as electric as 2011. The walk back to the car after the win was boring compared to 2011. I’m not one to cheer a lot. I’ll clap at times, but I watch the game more as a coach. I’m more even keeled emotionally unless it’s a huge moment.

Some season ticket holders can’t afford all the tickets they ordered. Many are worried about their credit card bill for games not played. Maybe they had planned on selling the games that weren’t played and can’t float the money for the next series games. I plan on buying tickets tomorrow morning for game 6 on stub hub, so I hope the prices go down even further.

Being on the doorstep of defeat is bad as it is. To drop two games in a row as your offense flops around like a fish out of water isn't exciting. Sure it is fun to watch the Brewers win a postseason game, but you risk going to watch the Brewers lose Game 6 of the NLCS...that is pretty rough on the feelings.

I imagine a lot of people are also holding out to go to Game 7 instead...many people can't afford to go to every single game of the postseason. We are now on home game #5. People probably figure well I will go to Game 7 if it happens and if it doesn't I will be really happy I didn't drop hundreds on Game 6 to watch their season end.

The possible historical significance will help sell tickets for Game 7 if it happens, but you have the same problem again. Why spends hundreds of dollars to risk watching their season end? If they win yah you miss them clinch a World Series birth (incredible), but who cares? Now you have money saved up for World Series tickets!

Milwaukee and our fans in general aren't that wealthy. So many games starts to get pricey and not only that, but spending hundreds to watch their season end is not a feeling that will feel great afterwards.

If this thing ends tomorrow, I am looking forward to being there and giving the team a standing O. Plus, there have been plenty of memorable game 6's in the past, don't want to miss out!

I'm going, but I am also waiting for someone to panic and dump some tickets for a good price. Just because I am hunting a bargain doesn't make me any less of a fan. Holding out for a ticket in a front row of a section. Not my problem if somebody overbought. If they hadn't, I could have gotten my tickets from the box office.

The first ever regular season Bucks game at Fiserv Forum will tip at the same time as Game 6. Ticket prices for that game have plummeted, too. There are only so many sports fans in this market and that’s probably a minor contributing factor to the lower prices for Game 6. I will say ... if Game 6 were at Dodger Stadium with the Brewers leading 3-2, I think the get-in price would be lower than what we are seeing in Milwaukee.

The tension at the stadium was palpable for the first two games. I think Game 6 will be a little more laid back, but the cheering and enthusiasm will be there. Can’t wait for the booooos during Machado’s first AB.
