2018-10-17 (NLCS Game #5): Brewers (Miley) at Dodgers (Kershaw) 4:05 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 5-2]

Eye Black

Well, we are in a position here to bullpen the crap out of game 6 and throw Chacin in game 7. It won't matter if the offense doesn't show up, but this always felt to me like a series we'd have to win in 7.

6 runs in 3 games in LA doesn't cut it. Probably lucky to win the 1. I will be watching on Friday, if for no other reason than I want to be there when this blast of a season ends.

The fact of the matter is that the Brewers have had to make a patchwork rotation work, and now it's caught up to them.

They banked that Nelson would return at some point, and that didn't happen. Chase Anderson, Zach Davies, Wade Miley, and Brent Suter all spent time on the DL. Woodruff and Burnes were moved to the pen. Peralta did well, but ran into an innings limit.

Then the offense went cold. It's a 1-2 punch the Crew couldn't recover from.

That's baloney. The patchwork rotation worked, again. They stopped scoring.

I knew this would be the annoying hot take of the talking heads. Their staff strategy worked all year and worked again.

When do the writers actually put in their votes for mvp? Has it already happened and they just announce in November or do they cast them later?

already done before the playoffs start.

Ok good.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

True, but having a good rotation, like the Dodgers do, has worked better.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

The pitching, starting and bullpen, literally couldn’t have done any better this series and at the end of the season, I’m not sure what you’ve been watching. Aside from one bad inning from Jeffress that of course cost them the game they have been spectacular. This series. Especially the young guys like Hader, Peralta, and Woodruff. This is 99% on the offense. 2 runs in the last 2 games. Yelich, Aguilar, Moustakas have all been absolutely pathetic. Cain was before today’s game too.

JJ was horrible for sure but I guess you have to expect that one pitcher won’t be himself. What you don’t expect is most of our key guys completely falling apart when you need them the most including the “MVP”.

The playoffs are where legends are made. Or lost.

Yes, when he gets the MVP trophy they should take it away.

Only a .441 OBP in the playoffs? How dare he nearly match the OBP that arguably the two greatest hitters in the history of the game (Bonds and Williams) achieved consistently.

Yeah he was awesome. Let’s get his $200M extension ready.

good, fact-based rebuttal!
