I didn't agree with CC's decision last night. I definitely agree with it today. You don't put the go-ahead run on base voluntarily with 1 out and the top of the order due up. With 2 outs, yeah you walk him.

 

I see the thinking both ways. But in my opinion you take your chances getting Barnes out and then you have an immediate way out of the inning.

Agree with both takes. Last night was a bad decision, but in a game where you are up one and they already have a runner at third base I don’t think you should risk putting the go ahead run on base intentionally.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Yeah, I don't think that decision is anywhere NEAR as clear-cut as people here would have you believe. You put the go-ahead runner on base, and probably allow them to let Kershaw bunt and stay in the game. Counsell decided to face a weak hitter, knowing that if he made an out they'd have to PH. Woodruff just didn't get the weak hitter out.
