2018-10-17 (NLCS Game #5): Brewers (Miley) at Dodgers (Kershaw) 4:05 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 5-2]

Eye Black
Aguilar has been a new level of bad with runners on in the post-season.

I think he is 0-13 with runners on, and has left 18 runners left on. If anyone wants to fact check that, please feel free.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

The end result with Aguilar I think is why he worked around Braun. I was hoping Braun got some pitches to hit but seems Kershaw was thinking the same thing ..

Agree. That's why I said I'd have green lighted Braun on 3-0. Post AS Break Aguilar is not that great.

And playoff Yelich seems to be swinging over top of everything!

Just need a couple clutch hits today and we will be good - as the Dodgers have been just as bad if not worse at the plate !

Things even out unfortunately. I mean Aguilar was an RBI machine for awhile. Ya just knew it wasn’t going to last.

Sometimes it really amazes me how much success Aguilar has had this year when I watch him. He seems like such an easy strikeout when you need it, but I guess you could say that about a lot of Brewers this postseason.

He hit the wall months ago. He looks and moves like a surly teenager who had to get out of bed early and isn't even fully awake yet. Still hits some deep by virtue of his raw strength, but he's just a liability now. And he hardly ever even has to play all game.

0-14 now and 19 left on base (came into the at bat 0-13 and 16 runners stranded).

The "what have you done for me lately?" crowd on here is disheartening. Yelich doing Yelich things for a month is the reason the Crew isn't working on their long irons in Florida, instead playing in the NLCS. He carried the team, and the team needs to pick up some of the slack. Sheesh...

You can still be disappointed that he doesn’t get a ball in play with a guy on third with less than two outs. Both mid sets can exist. It’s not lost on many what Yelich has done for this ball team.

Yeah the rah rah see the positive in every single failure thing is getting old. It is a live game. We can get mad at stuff.

Right but thinking Yelich just needs to "take it to heart" is also annoying. Be disappointed if you want but be realistic.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Not to revive an old argument, but I think Aguilar's struggles just serves to highlight how poorly Thames played since the summer. He couldn't even sniff playing time.

So Shaw at first the rest of the series?

I wish Braun felt more comfortable there. Then santana could play.

For sure. A lot of guys on this team kind of seem like prototypical 5/6 hitters, and you have to move 2 of them up to hit 3rd and 4th. Shaw, Moustakas, Thames, Aguilar, Braun, Santana, Schoop (if he ever gets his head out of his butt...) depth is nice but they could use a really good #3 or #4 hitter.

Regardless of how this series turns out, a couple of takeaways from the post-season...

The Brewers have several young arms worth being excited about.

This team/management isn’t beholden to baseball traditionalists, and that should serve them well over the long haul.

Agreed. Right-handed power bat needed over the offseason. Must play corner infield. So I guess, ummm, Goldy?
