2018-10-16 (NLCS Game #4): Brewers (González) at Dodgers (Hill) 8:09 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 2-1 -- 13 Innings]

Eye Black

Under the current model of limiting most of our pitchers to one trip through the order, Gio is ranked 12th out of 12 on the current staff. His biggest use is his left-handedness and dictating the Dodgers starting lineup. So yes, Gio is likely capped at 2-3 innings. Doubt they'll want to tempt fate and push him. He had a very short leash last time and there's no reason to give him a longer one now. The big question is, who follows Gio? It sounds like Woodruff will be the guy but I'm not so sure. The score after 3 might dictate who follows. I have a sneaking suspicion we might be surprised by the second out getter for the Brewers tonight.

I'm thinking your suspicion is Peralta. I think that is HIGHLY unlikely.

But many of the pitching moves they've made have completely flummoxed me, and they have worked for the team much more than not, so who knows?

;)

Let's hope Freddy is up to the challenge. He's really hard to hit, command just has to be there. He's a weapon and given the circumstances - he's needed.

I sure as heck hope you know what you're talking about. I know you have a lot more faith in him than I do.

You all can hate on Gio all you want but I love that they practically had to drag him off the field.

Agreed. Wants to battle. I love that. Wish he could’ve finished that inning.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Here comes the majority of this boards love child...when he starts missing the zone, I hope you all as harsh on him as you are on Gio...and Freddy WILL miss the zone. Oh, wait, I know, it will be CC's fault because he hasn't pitched him and he's rusty, right?? :rolleyes

To be fair he only threw 26 pitches. Assuming he ices it up and the swelling doesn't get too bad, he should be available for an all hands on deck game 6 or possibly even game 5 if it goes to extras.

Nah, I'm good.

Not when you have Jennings and Anderson and Broxton and Thames available to replace him... unless you really think he is crucial to be on the roster for the World Series.

Freddy is going to mow down Dodgers for the next 3.0 IP, son.

I like that in my players but at the same time I hate that CC didn't take him out the first time. Nice guts and all but you sort of need your pushoff foot as a pitcher

I'd rather be down two hands.

I get what you're saying, but am choosing to have a little more hope.

He is the anti Machado for sure. I’ll fondly remember his gutty attitude when the series is tied at 2-2.

One run. If they lose this game, it is 100% not on Gio.

Calm down.
