If there is one thing that has seemed to sort of plague this staff in September and through October so far, it's been leadoff walks. They have worked there way out of many of those situations, but it still adds an added layer of drama that shouldn't be needed.

Walking the leadoff guy was just a result of Burnes not having it. He couldn't find his spots against the next two guys and just grooved them pitches, as opposed to missing the strikezone with the first batter. On Machado's hit, Kratz wanted the ball down and away and Burnes just served one up. The next one was right in Bellinger's wheelhouse.

Burnes was not fooling anyone. I can't criticize them for trying to get some quality innings from Soria, Cedeno, and Burnes, but it's tough when you haven't had enough work for everyone and they're rusty. Kind of a vicious cycle.
