The Curse of the Young and the Restless

We?ve had the Curse of the Ball and Glove logo, and the Curse of Paul Molitor, but how about the Curse of the Young and the Restless? Our four soap stars haven?t been very fortunate since they taped the episode on the morning of May 22.

JJ Hardy

Before 5/22: 44 G, 186 AB, 14 HR, 41 RBI, .312/.355/.602, 957 OPS

Since 5/22: 35 G, 139 AB, 4 HR, 13 RBI, .237/.316/.352, 669 OPS

JJ also missed several games due to a sore hip and a stiff back.

Jeff Suppan

Before 5/22: 10 G, 67 IP, 6-4, 3.49 ERA

Since 5/22: 9 G, 50 IP, 2-4, 7.02 ERA

Chris Capuano

Before 5/22: 9 G, 48.1 IP, 5-2, 3.72 ERA

Since 5/22: 6 G, 30.2 IP, 0-4, 6.46 ERA

Capuano also spent 3 weeks on the DL with a strained groin.

Bill Hall

Before 5/22: 43 G, 157 AB, 6 HR, 19 RBI, .268/.329/.452, 781 OPS

Since 5/22: 36 G, 131 AB, 3 HR, 19 RBI, .275/.345/.443, 788 OPS

Although Hall?s stats are very similar since the taping, he suffered a high ankle sprain last week and is currently on the DL and could miss up to 6 weeks.

To be truthful, I don?t really believe in curses myself. However, I thought that the board could use something fun to talk about since the next real game isn?t until Friday, and it is quite convenient that these four guys have really struggled to stay healthy and productive since the taping.

This is like the SI cover curse. Good players that are very hot are due to fall back to earth. YatR picked some of the hotter Brewers, and now they are cold regressing their numbers to mean.

EA Sports...It's in the game...until we arbitrarily decide to shut off the server.

there was a headline on jsonline today: "wandering eyes"

it made me think of chris capuano and his role in "the young and the restless". taking ned yost's comments about scoreboard watching out of context:

But does he ever look?

"Oh, yeah," he said. "It's natural to look. It's natural to glance out there.

"I try not to, but I catch myself looking out there every once in a while. I tell myself to stop looking."
