Troy Stokes too... although I thought his arm was cause for concern.

Either way, good recognition for a couple crops on the farm.

I'm serious when I say that I think Troy Stokes is arguably the best all-around outfield prospect the Crew has.

He's always had speed and OBP skills, and now he's added power. The defense doesn't seem too bad, either.

Yet it's disappointing that they didn't see fit to jump him up to AAA this year. I thought for sure he was ticketed for a move, and it's isn't like the team had massive amounts of OF depth at AAA. He needs to make a sizable leap to his average at AAA next year to help his prospect status. I'm pulling for him, as there just isn't many guys out there with his body type and skillset profile.

Biloxi was in a playoff chase - he was kept there for that reason, I think. With the state of the major-league franchise, Stokes getting post-season experience was probably seen as better for his development.

Joe

2:31 Saw Payton Henry won a GG at C. How would you rate his throw and defense?

Eric A Longenhagen

2:31 55 arm, 4 glove

Dag. I'd always thought of him as a bat-first, big-bodied catcher with maybe average defense so I was excited to see the GG article. He is from a cold-weather state if I remember correctly though so possibly more room for improvement with good work ethic.

He did throw out 44% of runners this past season.

The next Broxton perhaps? Given our OF is rather locked up for a while, I think that would be a great role for him.

I'm confused by this post...

Broxton is an outfielder, Henry is a catcher.

Just my 2 cents but I believe he was referencing Troy Stokes with that comment.

I believe this post was referring to Troy Stokes. The thread ended up having discussions of both Payton and Stokes
