Fun or torture?

danzig6767
I’ve been in the “torture” camp. However, after attending my first-ever Brewer playoff game last night, I’ve flipped. Today, being able to host a game 7 in Milwaukee and knowing it’s going to be an all-time incredible atmosphere, it’s full-on celebration and fun mode for me.

This whole season has been fun for me. I’ve been a fan since ‘77 and in August I said that this was my 3rd favorite season ever. It has now surpassed all of them, even if we lose tonight. ‘82 was a fun season but I was 14 and just assumed we’d be back and didn’t truly appreciate how special that season was.

This team is just so easy to cheer for, to like. There isn’t a guy on the team that I think is a jag. Counsell has done a masterful job of getting these guys to play hard, even when their playing time was cut and/or they were sent down. Every guy in that clubhouse has bought in to the vision and Counsell has managed to the talent and strengths of the team.

They have had several “beginning of the end” stretches this season, yet bounced back every time, they are so resilient and almost seem too “naive” to feel the pressure or even realize there is pressure. I won’t talk about all of them but they won the last 8 games of the regular season to clinch the division, including a road sweep of the Cards and the clincher in Wrigley. They had their backs against the wall last night and they stepped up once again. They are loose and having fun and are a pleasure for me to watch.

I can’t tell anyone else how to fan but just enjoy this moment, enjoy this season... it’s been magical. And you never know, it may be another 36 years before you can do this again.

The one thing that makes this run more enjoyable is it feels like the beginning of something instead of the culmination of years of building to this one moment. In 2011 we went all in and knew it was a do or die year, maybe two at most. This time around basically everyone is coming back for several years and more talent is on the way to supplement what we already have.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

It's been fun torture.

Fun because of all the comebacks, the crazy moments (how many times is Grandal going to let a pitch get by him?), and the fight in this team....which is one of the best that's ever put on that Brewers uniform.

Torture because it's going to end; maybe today, hopefully 5-8 games from now. I'm not ready for the off-season, and not ready to ride to be over.
