The Brewers Frosty Boys Bullpen

Just wanted to say how impressed I have been with the Milwaukee Brewers bullpen this year. So impressed that I think the bullpen of this wonderful team deserves a nickname. On September 14, 2018 a caller on to Tim Allen's post-game show on 1250 AM WSSP came up with the perfect nickname - "The Frosty Boys".

I am not that caller, however, I think the nickname is phenominal! Like the 1982 team, I believe this team is destined for the World Series. As we know, the 1982 Brewers had a great nickname, "Harvey's Wallbangers" based on its home run prowess and it has kept that team relevant in popular culture even to this day. The 2011 did not have a nickname. Maybe nicknames have something to do with destiny.

Unlike Harvey's Wallbangers, the Frosty Boys nickname is based not on the hitters, but the bullpen pitchers. The name Frosty Boys is a simple take on the metaphor of a frosty beer as it relates to the teams incredible bullpen pitching. A perfect fit - a beer metaphor for a team called the Brewers!

For example, like a good frosty beer their pitches leave every hitter with a bitter taste! In addition, the pitches of the Frosty Boys are straight-up cold, with lots of cream, and they go down fast just like a good frosty beer!

Here is an audio link to the original call regarding the idea of the nickname from September 14, 2018:

Here is a link to a jpeg that another fan has made up:

It would be nice if some of the fans in the Miller Park crowd held up some Frosty Boys signs at Game 1 of the NLDS on Thursday!

I've got a great feeling about this team. It's togetherness, power, and the MVP (Yelich) remind me of the 1982 team! One of the things the 1982 didn't have was a great bullpen, like these Frosty Boys of 2018, primarily because the OG Frosty Boy Rollie Fingers was injured. It is probably the reason that special team of 1982 didn't win the World Series.

Thank you everyone and go Brewers!

I know this is your first post here, so I dont want to be a jerk about it. But. Its horrible, this idea of yours.

Soooo don't be a jerk about it then. There is absolutely nothing horrible about being pumped up about the team.

He even said its not his idea, just passing it on. Its not going to catch on, I don"t like it, thats my opinion. Besides, it was tongue and cheek using a movie reference.

No worries. I know your type. I work in politics and I see your type all every now and then. You know the type I'm talking about because you're one of them. The type that always complains or belittles the ideas of others because that's easy. You know the type, the ones that never come up with ideas of their own. The type that never takes a chance or puts themselves out there for others to judge because it's too easy for you to bully someone or knock them down. Even if it's a person's first post, you gotta be mean. Not critical in a positive way, but downright mean. Yep, you know that type very well because it's you.

A wise man once told me there are doers in this world and don'ters. The doers make the world go round and live meaningful lives. Don'ters are the obstacles the doers must overcome on their way to acheiving greatness. A doer makes history. A don'ter is small and insignificant. Your above comment is a small one.

I love the Frosty Boys nickname. I think it is true genius and a very fitting nickname for the bullpen. I credit the caller Mike for coming up with it and his remarkable call to Tim Allen. Now that is a doer.

Wow! U guys are something else!!! I'm a brand new poster and I come here with a great idea and most of you, not all, are complete jerks. Please tell me what I did other than provide a great idea for a nickname for this team and stick up to a bully. I thought I was very respectful. I wasn't rude, I didn't call him names, I just put him in his place. He deserved that.

My very first post I get attacked. Then someone thinks I'm some other poster. Ridiculous! When did Brewers fans become so mean to fellow fans?

There are a few that did stick up for me. Thank you. I hope these type of people are really the norm here.

If the site owner wants to check my IP address please do. If he/she wants to PM me and then call me I will give him/her any information they need to prove I've never posted here before. Please do it.

This really was my first time posting here and I don't know of anyone personally that ever has posted here either. I Google searched for a Brewers fan forum and this one came to up at the top. I also noticed it was very active which I thought was a good thing for my first post about the frosty boys. I am completely flabbergasted at how I've been treated as a newbie (not by all).

Again, if the site owner wants to contact me personally, please do. I want to prove that I've never posted here because the culture of this site is very toxic.

Oxy, nice ideas buddy. Keep them coming.

Nice idea. I'm not completely sold on it mostly because it might not be endorsed by JJ.

Some of the other names are neat above, but I like the ones that are not name specific. This bullpen, though led by Hader and JJ most of the year is more all encompassing. Think it has to be a play on Craig's out-getters as that is the big theme of the year. Guys come up from AAA get their share of outs, cycle back. How many different SP have we had this year? Several of which were pulled from.the rotation in September but may still play prominent roles in October.

Don't really have a catchy name for the group, but that would be my aim and Frosty Boys isn't bad for a sometimes cold climate city that brews and drinks a lot of beer.

Thought of one...CC's whiff brigade?

Slotcar, sorry for jumping on you. It was late (for me) so I wanted to brief, didn't intend to come off that way. The reference "Its horrible, this idea of yours" is a line from "Office Space."

That said, sorry to say I still don't like it. Any nickname that has to be explained won't work. For example Bambi's Bombers, Nasty Boys, Murderers Row, all catchy and self-explanatory. Frosty Boys sounds contrived. Just my opinion, maybe I'm wrong.

Are we sure it's not a certain poster that used to troll these boards? These shaming posts are sooooo similar.

Welcome to the boards. Hopefully we are not too toxic for you to continue to post here...

Welcome to the board, SlotcarAssassin!

Yes welcome, and your profile picture is awesome as hell! I used to love that old AFX slotcar stuff as a kid. I have about 600 feet of track, equipment, Data Race systems, etc., and a case of cars in my basement that I always plan to set up, but never get around to it. Maybe your pic will inspire me!

I appreciate those words FVBrewerFan. Thanks. And for anyone thinking I someone else with a history here, you couldn't be more wrong. I posted about this issue yesterday and if anything is similar to a former poster it is only by coincidence. I'm just the type that doesn't take any unnecessary crap. I would never come at anyone. I'm very kind, considerate, and engaging. But like I said, if someone comes at me, expect the hammer and I'm not talking about Henry Aaron.

As far as FVBrewerfan and I go, as far as I'm concerned, it is over and done. Hopefully he and I can engage in compelling conversations about the Brewers and everybody's favorite bullpen, the Frosty Boys from now until the Brewers win the World Series.

To the guy who posted just before me, your slot car stuff sounds great! I am a slot car nut. I race all 3 primary scales: HO, 1/32 and 1/24. I've got a huge HO track that is 4 lanes, and three other 1/32:1/24 tracks. I've got about 70 cars total of all three scales. However, HO is still my favorite! Love spending time racing with my kids!
