I didn’t cry when we won the wild card in 2008, I was 13 years old. I didn’t cry when we won my junior year of high school in 2011. But nothing has ever hit me emotionally more than seeing Bob Uecker with the team after the game, and honestly, I cried watching it. Ueck is getting old, and though I’m sill a young man, I remember growing up with no tv and listening to Uecker call every play. He’s grown old. He’s getting close to the end. If anything, I want to win this year for him. He has dedicated his life to this city and to see the joy on his face after this title broke me. Let’s go out and win this (pardon my language) damn thing for Ueck and all his years...means more to me than a title itself.

It brought me so much joy to see the players pouring beer on him and treating him like a teammate. He was so happy. He loves this team, he loves this city, it’s our turn to give him what he deserves. I hope we can deliver because Bob is truly a good man and I’m so proud he’s a permanent fixture here. It his turn!
