Jeremy Jeffress Issues?

Brewerfan.net blows up if Woodruff blows that game. Play around all you want since we won (and wow what a win it was). Saying Jeffress was hurt would have been the only saving grace. "Saving" Jeffress for the next day when the team has a lead with the division on the line is at hand, Cubs hanging by a thread?

At this point, does it really matter?

We are still playing games, right? Yep, it matters. If Jeffress pitches Game 1, are we going to be holding Jeffress out of Game 2? Awfully strange when people are saying all is well.

If something strange like that happens, yeah, it should be questioned. But I think at this point as fans we should probably take them at their word. This team hasn't given its fans any reason not to.

Hes fine

This is better than nothing. But don't take it personal if I take your assurances with a grain of salt, as it is your job to downplay any negative.....

It is weird, no two ways about it. I assume whatever happened earlier in September, is the same thing that just happened again. Whatever that may be.

Was he in the bullpen Monday? And celebrating with the team?

Answer yes to that, and I’ll stop worrying.

But it appears he wasn’t present, and was instead tweeting about his unavailability mid-game.

I know he’s fine. I’m still worried.

How is that better than nothing. That is an empty answer, vague to the point of not answering at all...

He was there in uni. Left post right before booze cracked out. Held out incase of elimination game

Thanks Josh! That answers every question.

Smart move by Jeremy to eliminate temptation. That guy has meant so much to this team this year.

Again, why not just say that in the first place? Just seems really strange for the team to use the "undisclosed reasons" line when it's a mundane reason. Given JJ's history it really does him a disservice.

Funny, I thought the disservice is all the posters jumping to conclusions without a fraction of the information... information they aren't entitled to, unless they view themselves as entitled...

Where was everyone jumping to conclusions?

I have the right to wonder...I think. I don't recall demanding any information or anyone else for that matter.

For that matter I hope Jeffress is okay first and foremost. Whatever may have happened I am glad to know it wasn't some major deal that required information to be released etc. Obviously Jeffress has been through a lot in the past and I hope he can keep his ship righted.

I dont issue club releases they didnt ask me.

Out of curiosity, will he be fined for his in-game tweet? Not sure how all that works.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I can't say for certain, but I think I remember during the wild card celebration in St. Louis that JJ was off to the side and I believe was holding a Coca-Cola cup. It seemed clear that he did not want to get in the middle of all the champagne and beer, and that probably wasn't an option in the closet also known as the visitor's clubhouse at Wrigley. You could tell during that celebration that people could hardly move in there.

I also don't think people are jumping to conclusions, but it does seem fair to ask why the club wouldn't simply say he was being saved for a possible game on Tuesday. I get the competitive reasons for not saying it prior to or during the game, but to still have some secrecy about it after the game was over just seems a bit odd.

Anyway, sincerely hope that is all there was to it, and that JJ will be a huge part of this postseason run just as he was during this fantastic regular season.

So we are all going to pretend that no one would be beyond upset to lose that game on a GW double with the bases loaded and Woodruff, not Jeffress, on the mound?

This situation has popped up a few other times this year when guys have planned days off- Jennings pitching in the 8th with bases loaded rings a bell. I question the logic of calling any relief pitcher off limits in any game when he didn't pitch the day before... the situation might have called for Jeffress to get the final bases loaded out for the division.

Who says Jeffress doesn't give up that double? Woodruff has been terrific lately. I would have trusted him in that spot nearly as much as Jeffress. I don't make the decisions. If they were holding Jeffress for a possible Tuesday game, it's their call.

What conclusions did anyone jump to? You're reading what you want to read and not what I wrote.

If it's something Adam McCalvy wondered about, it stands to reason a few fans would wonder about it too:

Brewers officials are declining to specify what prevented closer Jeremy Jeffress from participating in Monday's NL Central tiebreaker game at Wrigley Field, where Josh Hader covered the final two innings, including a two-out at-bat against Javier Baez in the ninth inning that seemed perfect for Jeffress.

But Jeffress will be a full participant in the NLDS, both Counsell and general manager David Stearns said.

Jeffress' agent, Joshua Kusnick, said the matter had nothing to do with drugs or alcohol. Jeffress has been open about past battles with both.

"He is perfectly fine. He's on the roster, no restrictions," Counsell said.
