Playoff game times

NYChez

On Thursday or Friday?

Thursday

I believe this is how the Thursday schedule will go down. The Cubs will draw more primetime viewers than the Dodgers, who would draw more viewers than the Rockies.

Atlanta’s viewership is basically the entire southeastern portion of the country on top of its own massive market. The Dodgers + that probably trumps the Cubs.

Maybe they’ll throw the Brewers/Cubs series a cone and give one somewhat prime time game but the numbers would probably slightly say LA/ATL at 6.

Both 2016 and 2017 had night games early in the NLDS for Games 1 and 2. Cubs were part of both of those years. If it's Cubs/Brewers, that could continues with us playing the early game at 6 and the Dodgers at 9. Red Sox/Yanks could make the headliner though and push NL early on Friday. Root for Oakland.

Well thankfully I said 99% sure earlier in the thread because that does seem to make it possible that we get a later game.

I think a lot of it has to do with how many west coast teams make it but the AL still gets most of the later slots.

In 2016, the last season the NLDS started before the ALDS, the 2 game times were 4:38 CST and 8:15 CST.

I fully expect the Brewers Thursday game to be at 4:38 CST and the Dodgers to get the later game.

I do agree with everyone else that the Brewers are likely to have the early 12:08 CST time slot on Friday.

I think I can make it Thursday/Friday no matter what (not sure about the people I'm going with though), but on the off chance that I can't, does anybody know if it's even possible to sell the tickets from the presales? You don't get barcodes until the day of the game, so I don't think you can sell them on StubHub.

For us as fans of course we'd prefer the night game Thurs. However, if the next day is at 12 or 1 then the team would really prefer to play the afternoon on Thursday to have more time off in between. As someone coming from out of town who would just skip work I actually don't mind the 3 oclock.

For a bit of reference, I listed my SSH pair for Game 1 and 2 last night, as my plan was always to upgrade my seats at the presale and unload those.

Both games sold within 5 minutes of my listing.

Thanks, this puts my mind at ease. I'm 99% sure I'll still be able to make both games, and hoping Wednesday won't be a problem either. If Brewers go to 5, I'm hoping either the Braves or the Dodgers clinch it in 4.

Looks like I will be selling my tickets for both games. Welp, make it to the NLCS I guess. MLB sucks scheduling these games.

Just so you sell your tickets to a Brewer fan and not, assuming they make it, a Cub fan.

This has been beaten to death around here, but I don't think it's realistic for people to be choosey with who is buying their seats when they will have 5 hours to sell them. It is easy for people who didn't spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on a game they can no longer attend to make rules around who should buy them.

If it is the Cubs and their fans fill the place, the Brewers have no one to blame but themselves for the barcode hoarding that forced people's hands and the stupid MLB scheduling.

If the games were at night I'd have no doubt it would be Brewer-fan dominated against any opponent. Especially after the fan showing yesterday.

I don't understand why they have to wait to see who is going where to determine the times of the games. They know all the home teams. Isn't that the most important factor? Even if it does make a difference, why not at least post the possible times like - Thurs: Cub/Rockies @ Brewers @ 3pm or 6:30pm (similar to the speculation on this board). At least give people some idea. People have lives and need to plan ahead.

I think the Brewers ticket strategy could end up having the opposite of the intended effect.

If people had been able to sell them yesterday or today you would get the fresh hype train and Brewers fans flooding the market for tickets. Not super likely Cubs fans buy NLDS Game 1 tickets at MP before they know they're even playing.

Now, if the Cubs get in, you will have more seller panic, people who can't attend day games, and a much larger fan base with a higher number of people able to take off work to come with little notice.

Thanks for the info, but some of that depends on the price you sold them at. Did you sell them on Stubhub? Was your price lower, higher, or about the same as similar tickets?

You can sell on StubHub right now and upload barcodes the day of. I alerted StubHub to this problem because they were going to have an utter panic if they didn't override their typical rules. Usually you need to upload a few days prior, but that wasn't going to happen and thousands of tickets were getting listed anyway.

Moral of story StubHub is allowing you to wait all the way to the day of game to actually deliver tickets.
