I wonder how much of a leash Gio gets with both Peralta and Anderson available. Counsell has been quick to the bullpen down the stretch and there is no doubt he will be today. Turnbull will be interesting because he had a very nice last start but got rocked the game before that and really was a very average AA pitcher this year. He strikes guys out and that can be a problem for this team.

The Cubs will be going at the same time. The match up seems to favor the Cards quite a bit - Flaherty vs Montgomery. Recently, Montgomery has been going about 4 innings and giving up 3 runs his last 6 starts. Flaherty has gone almost 6 innings with 2 earned runs. Lets stick to those numbers again today guys

I'm by no means a Chase Anderson fan but it's okay to give up 1 HR per start when your WHIP is that low - especially in this day and age. I mean, if we're acknowledging that HR hitters are overrated and guys like Chris Carter can't even get a part-time job because of their low OBP, isn't there a corollary for pitchers? All is well that ends well but you'd think they'd have some use for him.

I caved and bought tickets even though the bank account is already suffering with buying all those playoff tickets. Couldn’t miss this. Can’t wait!
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

How do you attack this game bullpen wise? Jeffress and Knebel have pitched two days in a row. There is only some much we do do here to be aggressive. An aggressive stance promises one pile of poop bullpen if we have to play Monday...how “worth it” is that? I’m guessing in a perfect world they want 6+ innings covered by just Gio/Peralta.

Ideally we will win a game by 3+ runs...but seeing as that doesn’t happen often it’d be nice to not have to use JJ or Corey. On the off chance we’d have to play Monday and Tuesday. Be hard for them to throw 5 straight days...however, if we win and cubs lose they can have 3 days off. Ahhh the options!!

I remember the day they hired CC after like a 4-17 start. I remember the trades, Stearns comin in, the long 2015 and 2016. I remember the loss to STL last year after going up 6-1.

It has all been building to a day like today, to a week like this really. So go get it done, and let's take this division one way or another!

Hopefully the Tigers regress back to being the Tigers on offense.

Well hopefully you get a solid start from Gio, and then a lot will depend on how the Cubs game is going. If the Cubs are winning, I think you try your best to win without burning Knebel, Hader, and JJ. Use Woodruff, Barnes, Williams, Cedeno, Jennings, etc.

If Cubs are trailing you go for the kill and use some of your top arms. Gio will still be on a short leash with Chase and Peralta available.

This level of fandom and dedication should be acknowledged and applauded. The only thing left for you to do today is get loud and blow the roof off MP. Bravo.

Props to all of those who will be in attendance today. I hope you come away from today's game with lifelong memories of wild celebrations and the smell of champagne in the air.

Correction. The only thing left for him to do is buy me tickets too! :) pretty please.
