Game thread: Buffalo vs. Green Bay, 9/30/18

Homer - The win probability in that situation was probably about 25%. The loss probability was near 50%. I thought the decision to go for it was irrational, but I understand the go-for-it mentality. For me, it would come down to: Start 1-2-1 and you’re a game under .500. Start 1-3 and you’re done. Live to fight another day.

Rodgers wasn’t sharp. He was okay but he missed some throws today he rarely misses on.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Surprised at the lack of excitement over the defense's performance at the very least. The Bills may not end up being a significant win when looking back at the end of this season, but they ARE one week removed from dismantling what is supposed to be a good Minnesota team in Minneapolis, and the Packers made them look completely inept in most phases of the game today. I think that's worth something, IMO.

Yeah I loved how the defense looked. The 7? Sacks were very nice as well. I'm ok with giving the offense a pass. Rodgers looked healthier and if he can start practicing now that should help them, plus Cobb missing the game hurt, despite how he looked last week.
Remember what Yoda said:

I wasn't defending them or anything. Just thought the meme was appropriately funny.

That's what happens with a rookie QB alot, though - and it has little to do with the opponent. Packers' D probably took a look at last week's film to make sure they took away certain plays or didn't give Allen the same defensive formations that led to their big plays against the Vikes, and they couldn't find something else that worked.

Keep in mind buffalo looked horrid their 1st two games, too. I think the Vikes team as a whole is overrated and got a fat record last year primarily off Rodgers' injury (2 of their wins) and a relatively soft schedule in 2017. Took fluky plays to get them to the NFC title game and they proceeded to get destroyed. The fact the Bills beat them up a couple Sundays ago coupled with how the Rams scored on them at will and how GB's offense played well against them should mark a trend showing the Vike's D isn't special in 2018, either.

The Rams easily look like the NFC's best team thus far, but I still struggle to view them as the favorite until their QB proves he can make plays when it really counts. They are going to roll their bad division and wind up with a great record, but it's weird thinking they don't really scare me in the playoffs. (Same can be said about any team rolling with a young QB the first part of the year until they prove they can win in January).
