2018-09-27: Other Games including Pirates (Williams) at Cubs (Lester) 7:05 PM CDT

Eye Black
The price flew up because they clinched...not due to the meaningfulness. That is what makes it weird. Obvious they were going to be a playoff team throughout the weekend or clinching during it for awhile.

Maybe IDK. My guess is because people now think they might be there to clinch and/or win the division. or win a big game to take the division lead etc. But yea could also just be people are fired up after the last 3 days, who knows.

People are fired up and taking Yelich's request in the player's tribune to heart!

Packing Miller Park and hopefully making it very loud.

Probably just Cub fans buying up tickets again, since that's the only way the Brewers can sell out according to Hamels.

Looks like Friday and Saturday will be sold out and there’s only a few Terrace sections available on Sunday.

Not only that, you should see what's available on the secondary market. I wanted to go Friday, but Terrace tickets went from $25ish last night to around $40 now with the fees. Bleachers are like $60 and any good seat is going to be like a playoff ticket. And there really aren't even that many of those seats available, maybe 1,000 tickets or so to each of Friday and Saturday. The demand is seriously off the charts for a non-cub regular season game.

I was just on the Brewers site and there's quite a few seats all the way down in the first deck for Sunday. There's a pair in 125 row 8 yet.

113, 114, 115, 117 all have pairs, and a couple sections had 4 in a row open yet.

Click to use the map option where you can see the individual seats.

I just went on the Brewers site and there are tickets available for Sunday. I checked a few different price areas and they each had at least two seats.

Makes sense. There is a decent chance that Sunday is a completely meaningless game.

I would be surprised if it was meaningless. For either team to have a 2 game lead heading into Sunday would be surprising to me considering where it is now. You'd need the Cubs to go either 2-1 or 3-0 while the Brewers go 0-2 or 1-1 respectively...or for the Cubs to go 0-3 while the brewers go 2-0. The most likely of those based on recent play and matchups is probably the cubs going 0-3 and the brewers 2-0, but I honestly can't imagine the cubs losing 3 straight right now. Even with their pitching struggles, that offense is bound to win one for them.

Getting ahead of ourselves but...who starts a meaningless Sunday game?

Cf broxton

Lf granderson

Rf santana

1b thames

2b schoop

Ss saladino

3b perez

C nottingham

P: lyles.

I'd expect Arcia and Yelich in there, probably for Granderson and Saladino. I wouldn't want to give Arcia an extended off days. He's been playing most days lately, and his at bats are so much better than they were 3 months ago. He's slashing 263/298/361 in the 2nd half. I'm not going to say that's good, but it's worlds better than where he was and completely stomachable considering the defense he brings. Notably he isn't swinging at so much crap, only 9 ks in his last 66 AB over the last 28 days. Yelich is more of a hunch, that guy is so on fire right now...I suspect CC will ask him if he wants to play, and I would expect he'll play for maybe 2 AB before giving way to Granderson.

We'll see though, as I noted above I think the Sunday game is going to be huge. I'm personally expecting the Brewers to be up a game on the cubs heading into Sunday. Brewers 2-0 and the Cubs 1-2. Here's hoping.

But yeah for the most part this is spot on, even down to having Lyles pitch. Him, Guerra, or maybe Woodruff...though I'd expect Woodruff has pitched his way onto any DS and beyond roster.

Tickets are crazy. I had 2 TR tickets already as part of a 10 game pack, but I've got 5 people who wanted to go.

I ended up just buying obstructed view tickets from the brewers website because i wasn't going to spend $50 apiece so we could all sit together.

I listed my 2 TR428 at $55 apiece. Depending on what happens the next two days the prices may even go up more.

Does WGN not carry Cubs games anymore?

Come to think of it, is WGN still a network?

WGN still exists, but I think only carries Cubs games in their home market. They aren't beamed across the country anymore. I'm sure it's something to do with MLB broadcast restrictions.

WGN is still your go-to for re-runs of Cops and Everybody Loves Raymond, though ;)

In the chicago area, it seems WGN gets about half of the games and the chicago Comcast Sportsnet gets the rest.

Cubs can easily go 3-0 and the Brewers can easily go 1-1 or it can go 2-1 and 0-2. It is even plausible the Cubs go 0-3 and the Brewers 2-0. Add up the odds of those combinations happening and it is probably somewhere between 25% and 33% chance.

It never was a network, just a "super station". It's possible the rules prohibit them from sending the games to cable carriers.

In case you were wondering the N in WGN does not stand for network, it stands for newspaper (Worlds Greatest Newspaper) as it was owned by the Chicago Tribune.

That's just pathetic. I would be livid if I was a Dodgers or Cardinals fan.

Like I said lastnight, the Phillies have obviously quit on the season and quit on Kapler. Probably started a couple weeks ago. And I'm sure they really don't care about the Dodgers and Cardinals. So far in this series against Colorado the Phillies have been outscored 39-5 in their first three games and seven innings. 39-5. How does that even happen? Their record has to be atrocious over the past month to go from contending for a division title to a sub-.500 team. (EDIT - As I type this Santana hits a two run home run so the updated score is 39-7.) How do you only score 7 runs in 4 games at Coors Field? Any triple A team could do that. It would be nice if they could beat the Rockies today and only give them a one game lead over the Cards so they have more incentive to play that much harder against the Cubs, but unfortunately the Philly players are a bunch of quitters. Kapler will probably be fired next week.
