Playoff Tickets-Lottery?

rickh150

Been Waiting for the Brewers to put playoff tickets on sale via lottery for the general public. I'm fairly sure that I ordered single game NLDS tickets in 2007 and 2014 already this late in the season. It might be that management is waiting on the the next few games to see if the division is a possibility..... might save them time/effort and spare confusion in putting out just tickets to WC game and not NLDS tickets. Then again, tiebreaker games for division or last WC could complicate matters too, adding another game on Monday.

A couple days ago I received an offer to buy special group area seats to playoff games. No details were given on pricing, potential games, etc. I just needed to show that I had interest by way of email, and my guess is that the Brewers would eventually get the info and opportunity out to me.

Has anyone heard rumblings on individual playoff tickets or a lottery system being used again?

I will bet you some hard cash your question is answered tomorrow. Judging by last years timeline and with talking to a ticket rep. I was interested in getting a 20 game plan to secure postseason tickets (opting not to for various reasons) and he called me yesterday to tell me the price for postseason tickets was going to be raised in two days.

Actual sale of tickets probably won’t be until later next week if it makes it all the way to us normal people. As someone stated in a similar thread it will be like last year single game tickets will be priority based. 20 game plan holders get first dibs on set date/time, then 10 game, etc.

There was not a lottery last year. It just opened up at like 10am and everyone had a fair shot on their day.

Based on reading the information though it appears all lottery tickets will be digital and can't see them until day of game. Therefore, the only people selling assigned tickets prior to day of game will be season ticket holders that bought playoff strips.

Well if anyone is high on to totem pole for single game tickets and doesn’t need four I will buy two and you can rest easy knowing two less Cubs fans are there.

In more likely scenario I hope these can make it to the Wisconsin presale. Last year they let you buy up to 8...so maybe some squeak down. I hope people see the Cubs as the opponent and don’t buy haha.

I hope the season ticket holders buy up as much as possible. You would think that they would hold on to the tix rather than sell to Cubs fan given the rarity of postseason appearances.

....

Are you agreeing? Not agreeing? I'm confused. Dot dot dot dot isn't a response.

I've been told plenty of times to be quiet about the whole sellout Brewers fan thing. I tire of bringing it up too, to be honest. Yet, if a sellout will sell regular season seats to Cubbies for twice they are worth during a pennant run, most sellouts will sell playoff tickets for gobs more to the enemy. They'll find a way to excuse their actions and claim their loyal allegiance. IMO, of course.

I wish the mods would step in on this topic and make a site-wide rule because it's getting ridiculous and a certain poster is the common denominator every time it comes up, getting on his moral high ground and dictating everyone's household finances.

What makes me laugh about this idiocy the most is that most people sell the tickets on stubhub. You never meet the buyer and you don't get an alert that a "Cubs fan bought your seats." It is fast and easy and when time is of the essence that is what matters. I'm not dealing with Craigslist and Facebook no-shows and re-negs, I just need to get rid of the seats.

I hate to break this to you but I bought an entire postseason strip and I'm sorry but I cannot physically make it to 13 games in 3-4 weeks. If the Brewers make it that far, I will have extras and they will be sold. Do you know what the postseason strip costs? I don't even have premier seats and my pair was $3k. What matters to me is being assured I have a couple tickets to the World Series and being SSH is the best way to do it.

It would be great if only Brewers fans bought up my extras but needing to unload them doesn't always allow for that kind of selectiveness.

Call me a "sell out" if it makes you feel better about yourself. I'm putting way more money into this team than you are.

Well you can start by sending me $3500 for a postseason strip, $1500 for next year's 20 pack, plus however much the maximum amount of tickets allowed from the SSH presale cost and I can make sure all those tickets end up in your hands. Then you can rest easy knowing it was that it was that simple to make sure a Cubs fan didn't get any of those tickets.

Well said, OldSchoolSnapper!

We, too, have a SSH account and our pair of terrace box seats were a bit over $3k as well for the postseason strip, including parking. We live in Arizona. Guess how many games I will be attending? That's right! ZERO! My mother-in-law and sister-in-law will be using the seats (unless they decide to sell any themselves.) The ONLY way that I will be using the tickets is if they make the World Series--THEN I will be there. It's all due to practicality. I'll be damned if anyone is questioning my "fanhood" and "loyalty" to the team because I can't make 13 trips to Wisconsin (okay, I'd probably cut that down to about 6-7 trips, due to 2-3 game series in Milwaukee.) At least, the 2 ladies that are using the tickets are Brewers fans. But they have the authority (by me) to go ahead and sell if they can't make it to a game. I know in 2008 and 2011 they made it to them all but their job situations have changed since then and they MIGHT not be able to make them all this year.

On a different note, I wonder if the Brewers could "refuse" entry to anyone that they want, just like businesses can refuse service to customers at their discretion. Maybe if you're wearing Cubs attire of any kind, you are turned away at the gates! Ha ha!

I have a 20-pack and didn't buy the postseason strip. The price was around $3800, and I don't have that sitting around. Plus, there was no way I was going to go to all of the games, and didn't want the hassle of trying to unload the games I wouldn't be attending.

Cubs fans seem to be able to get into the stadium just fine, and my two seats won't make a difference.

They could...and I wear somewhere did this. Maybe a college?

EDIT: I remember now. There was an NFL stadium that denied people, who had sideline passes before kick-off, if they had opposing team attire. A rule I think many places have for stuff like that. Interesting to say the least.

Right now StubHub has NLDS tickets for $140 a piece if you include fees. So for two tickets that is about $200 more than from the Brewers. Could be worse I suppose and I imagine the influx after next week will beat that price down a little bit.

Jeez people need to get a grip. I certainly wasn't implying I would think anything less from season ticket holders if they sold some playoff tickets.

Most season ticket holders probably had less than 0% interest of attending a regular season Cubs game in MP; in the playoffs I imagine the interest is a lot more than 0%. I would be the same way if I had season tickets. Of course there are still going to be Cubs fans there but even if 50% of season ticket holders hang on to their NLDS tickets I think MP would be a lot more Brewer friendly.

IIRC the Cubs only came to MP once this year over a weekend and it was in April. That dictates a lot, a lot of SSH don't really want to bother making a Tuesday night game. The last series the attendance was barely over 30k.

The series flow will dictate the attendance a lot. If the Cubs come to town up 2-0 MP will be a sea of Cubbie blue.

Right cause then they can sell for a great price to Cub fans who want to see a clinch. Series pretty much over if you are down 2-0.

On another note a realize the price will come down because right now the market is just people who bought strips or I suppose people who have bought into next year ticket plans.

I think the price would fall because Brewers fans will not want to take time out of the day/weekend to see a team down 0-2 in a best of 5. I highly doubt I would go to the games if that's the case. The secondary market will be flooded.

But that's exactly what happened to the 82 Brewers. Down 0-2, and won 3 in a row to advance.

I don't especially dislike going to Cubs games. They give me a chance to see sad/angry/disillusioned/worried Cubs fans after a Brewers win. They're not so mouthy then.

I didn't buy the postseason strip because the Miller Park experience has soured on me. I despise waiting in traffic to park. The entrance lines are too slow. The food is spotty and at it's best is pretty unremarkable. The pace of action seems so slow to me. I'm usually too tired to last a whole game and then exhausted the next day. My days as a 20-pack holder are on hold for now. Maybe I need some time away from MP to rekindle my appreciation of it.

Yes, but the mindset of most people will be that the series is over. I sympathize with your grievances. I park at or near Target though and come from the West, so there is no traffic really. Easy out too. I enjoy the walk through the park by the VA to the stadium, and I time it just right, or meet someone in the lot for tailgating.

I rarely eat the food, but I think a few things are pretty good, and at least better than most sports stadiums. I have young kids, so during the regular season I don't see all the action anyway, we're up and moving around a lot.

The 20-pk was awesome for me this year and there was no hesitation to renew. I had something to do all summer with the kids and it wasn't as much of a commitment as I thought, the games were well spaced out.
