This team has been the hottest team in baseball over the last month. They were due for a stinker or two. How they respond in the 9th and tomorrow is key.

Well, this certainly qualifies as a stinker. Particularly with everyone else winning (except maybe the Rockies).

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

Does this team not have any leaders to scream some life into guys in the dugout? Pathetic showing out there tonight

Been around baseball for some time now. Does screaming at guys ever get better results in baseball? In my experiences it only makes it worse.

I've never been on a sports team where calling some one out and pumping guys up didn't make the team better. I'm not advocating for being Carlos Zambrano or Jeff Kent, so perhaps screaming was a strong word. Do you coach? I'm not being facetious I'm actually asking.

Yes, for several years now. The word scream just came off strange to me.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Craig manages like it's the 7th game of the series in Chicago and tonight it's just another game. Madness.

I thought pulling Davies when he did was a pretty deft move when he probably could have left him in another inning. His choice of relief pitcher left a bit to be desired, though.

I would have PH for Kratz. The pen moves I thought were fine. Not going to win this game with 1 run anyway.

On a deeper level I would like to know why Kratz is getting so much PT.

Frustration for sure. Taylor Williams seems to have disappeared.

#1 goal is securing a playoff birth. Cardinals getting destroyed by the Dodgers helps that. Rockies losing helps that. Arizona is down late, which helps. If the goal is the division, obviously the Cubs losing sucks. But I don't see a lot of harm otherwise. Heck, even the Braves lost, which helps in the overall record department.

Unfortunately the reality is that Yelich and Cain are not going to come through every time for us. We really need other guys to step up and for the most part they just really haven't.

Yes. This is it. Had this convo last night tailgating. If this team goes deep it will be because Braun, Shaw, Aguilar, Moustakas or Schoop goes off. They need the supporting cast to get hot at the right time.

I thought we wanted the DBacks to win so they still have fight when they play the Cubs. :)

Seriously though, I'm not too worried about anyone besides us or the Cubs. Only team that can keep us out of the #1 WC at this point is ourselves. Only us and the Cubs can keep us from winning the division. Falling back to 2.5 out hurts, no doubt. Hopefully we can pick it back up tomorrow.

LOL, yeah ... the DBacks are very much on the outside looking in though. You are right, if the Brewers take care of business, they'll have a spot. At this point, I hope we get a chance at the Cubs in the playoffs. I think we match up very well.
