I feel like Philly is basically toast at this point. Probably good to keep them on this thread for a bit longer, but I suspect they'd need to go something like 17-3 over their last 20 to make the playoffs at this point...that or the entire field plays sub-500 ball and they go like 14-6. It's simply not likely.

I think for the game above, I'd prefer Colorado beat Arizona. I don't want the Rockies to sweep and straight eliminate them as I want the Dbacks to still think they have a chance when they play the Cubs next week, but I'm warming to the idea of the Rockies simply taking the division.

It will be very tough for the Phillies or Diamondbacks to catch the Brewers.

Obviously rooting for Pitt and Cinci are no brainers. Washington beating the Phillies is nice, but I don't think it really affects the Brewers much at this point.

I think I'm rooting for the Rockies to win the division because they've never won before. I don't really want the Brewers to have to face the Dodgers in the WC game though.

The Cardinals could very easily get that 2nd wildcard, with the Dodgers missing altogether. I think it's a virtual lock at this point that both the Brewers and Cubs make the playoffs(and the Braves). From there it's the Rockies, Cards, and Dodgers for the last 2 spots...with the Dodgers 1.5 and 2 games back from the other 2 teams. The Dbacks could climb back, but they really need a 4 of 5 type stretch to get back in the conversation.

I'm actually kind of hoping Philly comes back and steals a wild card slot from LA or stl, or if were really lucky, the cubs.
Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."

If the Phillies or D Backs catch us the entire coaching staff needs to be fired and I might not log into this site for months. That would take the most ridiculous collapse and hot streak imaginable. I think our magic number so to speak to eliminate those teams from catching us is 10. I mean...I don't even know what I would do. Even the Dodgers are already down to about #12 to be eliminated by us.

There is a reason our odds to make the playoffs are 97% and it isn't because of our recent play. Mathematically catching us even in the best of scenarios is hard.

The Brewers' smart bullpen management is starting to pay huge dividends. Plus the roster construction and recent acquisitions. This team is hitting its stride at the right time. The division is right there for the taking.

Im rooting hard on Stl against LA coming up.

nah.. Dodger sweep might put them in the lead for the West, let the Cardinals battle the Rockies for the second WC.

I agree. I don't get why some here want the Dodgers to lose. I would much rather have them win their division because we own tiebreakers over both Colorado and Arizona but not LA. If we take two of three in St. Louis later we'll own a tie breaker over them too.

It's because LAD probably have the most talent in the NL. They also match up well vs us due to the lefty pitchers. Plus, if they do well and make a run at the the division but fall short and end up with just WC instead then you're facing Kershaw in a one game playoff. Long story short, you just don't want them in the playoffs because they probably have the best team. Just a couple weeks ago in spite of them not being in the playoffs at the time they were the 2nd favorite by oddsmakers to win the NL.

ETA: I just checked odds on my site again and Dodgers are still second favorite in the NL and barely behind the Cubs. +275 vs +300. There's a reason for that.

My guess is that also has alot to do with where the money is coming in from and their relative market size.

I don't see any reason to NOT play it at Miller Park if the Cubs want to send a little more revenue the Brewer's way. Plus if the game could get some walk up Brewer fans it would even up the crowd for the Nats a little compared to playing at Wrigley. It's kind of funny that Cubs fans/media would rather have another game at Miller Park rather than at their own "historic" (old) stadium though.

That said, as was mentioned in another thread, the Brewers did have an away series converted to a home series with the Marlins in a prior year, so no one could really complain if the game got relocated to Wrigley.

I wouldn't complain about playing at Wrigley. I could also see the Brewers generally uninterested in helping the Cubs out after their scheduling shenanigans the last couple years...and not offering Miller Park for that reason. I'm curious how it plays out.

Definitely feels inevitable that the Dodgers make a run and catch the Rockies, just like it felt inevitable last year that the Cubs would catch the Brewers. I'm sort of hoping for that, because there's still a pretty good chance the Brewers could face Kershaw in a WC game and I don't want that. The Rockies are the preferred opponent, whether in the wild card game or even as the lowest seed in the division round should the Brewers win the Central and the Rockies steal a game against the Cardinals or Cubs.

This is irrelevant to the Brewers' fortunes, but I'm kind of sick of the mediocre Rockies being in the division mix, too. I think they've been very lucky the last 2 years and I don't like seeing mediocre teams with bad management make the playoffs unless it gives the Brewers a favorable playoff match-up. I'm also fed up with so many players getting overrated and overpaid because of their inflated Coors Field stats.
