Phillies would need a monster run combined with a Brewer collapse at this point.

Even if the Crew went 6-12, they would need to go 14-6 to tie us. Arizona would need to go 12-7 in that scenario. Not writing them off quite yet, but to me it is really the 2nd place NL West team that we need to worry about. Go Reds!!!

On August 5th the Phillies were percentage points ahead of the Brewers in the standings and were leading the NL East by a game and a half. Since then, they've dropped nine series in a row (and split one) and the Brewers have gained 7 games on them. Not really sure what happened to Philadelphia, but it's going to take an incredible run for them to even have a shot at the postseason.

Diamondbacks remaining schedule:

4 @ COL

3 @ HOU

3 VS CHI CUBS

3 VS COL

3 VS LA

3 @ SD

If the Dbacks find a way to get into the playoffs, they will have to absolutely earn it.

I would strongly argue that we should be more concerned about the Cardinals than any NL West team. I specifically want the 1st wildcard if we can't win the division. Going into St Louis or LA for a 1 game playoff would be extremely tough.

100% agreed!

As much as I would love to end the Cardinals season, I would really hate to lose to them...

It's gonna be fun!

I think the Braves, Cubs, Brewers and all three west coast teams are better than the Cardinals. The Cards may have a schedule advantage that allows them to sneak in but right now I'd guess the D'Backs end up on the outside looking in with Colorado traveling to Milwaukee or Chicago for the WC game.

As we have seen time and time again, you just can't count the Cardinals out, but I hope you are right.

I am expecting them to go on a hot streak and not lose another game...

Fans suffer from PTSD. Because they've been abused by certain teams in the past, they are fearful of matchups. I've never understood it because the teams are just different. None of the history matters at all.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

It is looking like the Cubs/Nats game on Thursday will have to be relocated from DC due to the hurricane. I’m seeing some chatter about Milwaukee potentially hosting this game — if it comes to that, I hope the Brewers absolutely do not offer up Miller Park as a potential venue.

I live in Raleigh (or a southern suburb of Raleigh really) and we are expecting to get hit late Thursday in to early Friday morning. I would think that starting at 4 would give them time but if they moved it up to 1, I think they get it in with no issues.

Stay safe! All the models are pointing to a direct hit on NC.

I would imagine there is zero chance of this happening. I would assume they would just make this a Chicago home game, fitting right in their home stand.

It's supposed to be a nats home game and they are going to be in the midst of a divisional road trip between ATL and philly themselves...if at all possible the alternate venue should be either the city they are already planning to be in on thursday, or if weather is that big of a threat it should be the next closest available park where weather looks good. After the crap Zambrano no hitter against the Astros in miller park due to hurricane troubles, I want no part of being a convenient cub road game.

I frankly could care less about schedule problems for teams with outdoor stadiums... next time build a roof.

Keeps getting worse every time I look. Even this far inland it looks like we are going to see it hit as a cat 1 hurricane. Near panic has set in here. Having said that, it looks like the forecast was pushed back so I see no reason they don't play in Washington on Thursday.

Agreed with Homer. I'll also add that travel should also be considered for the players/teams. The start time should enable them to get out of DC before the area gets hit. I'd hate for these teams to be playing baseball a handful of hours before the area gets hit and for them to be stuck hunkering down somewhere until it passes.

Has anyone every played a double header vs two different teams? I looked at schedules. Cubs are off next Thurs as well. Nats are off Wednesday and play night game vs NYM on Thursday. Cubs fly in to play a day game vs Nats then Nats play at night vs Mets. Not a lot of options besides that or the Monday after the season and say it'll only be played if necessary.

Sounds like something the players union would be against because the visitor's clubhouse wouldn't be up to snuff for the second team or something silly like that.

It doesn't appear that DC will get much impact from the hurricane unless it eventually moves up the coast, but that would happen later. There is a threat of rain though and there are so many people around there with friends/family living in the impact areas. It seems like a bad idea to play a game in DC on Thursday.

Cards win. Whiparound shows Josh Bell Double in 9th to make 1run game 2? 3ft? Short of game tying HR.

Next update JiMan walks it off with 2run HR. Ump missed a clear strike 3 for 3rd out batter before Choi. Could the manager have walked out there argued and decided to play game in protest because that literally cost them the game.
