For those scoring at home (and I know you are), in his last 6 games including today, Christian Yelich is 12 for 28 with 4 HRs

Thank god Jeffress and Hader can rest after pitching yesterday! Let’s keep this one wide open! We need to protect them! Once a week tops!

I understand the frustration and I was fuming last night, but it'd be nice if the remainder of the bullpen could finish this out and we get them fully rested for the Cubs series.

I don't have any illusions of catching the Cubs. They are way better than us. But we need to be at full strength to win that series.

Every single game is HUGE and IMPORTANT in September. How many times has it been posted that "this is the game we will look back on and be mad about if we end up a game short again this year."

I'm tired of dismissing every blown game as it's just another game, 1 of 162.

If not now, when is it important to win?

I'm sure Counsell is a great guy and a great clubhouse presence, but is he the guy you want making line-ups in the play-offs and world series if we ever manage to make it that far?

Is he the guy you want to handle the bullpen in crucial situations during the playoffs and world series?

I ask that as a serious question, is he the guy?

Also, I posted this today in yesterday's game thread but I doubt anyone is still reading that thread and I seriously want the answer to this question:

Do any of the bench coaches have any input into how CC manages the bullpen or any other aspect of the game?

Do any of them ever say, "Hey Craig, maybe we should consider getting someone up and loose just in case Soria continues to struggle."

"Hey Craig, if Jesus gets on base, maybe we should think about an immediate pinch runner."

Or does everyone on the coaching staff just sit there mute so as not to step on the manager's toes?

I have often wondered what conversations take place and what conversations don't take place when events transpire...

Every time is important to win. No one goes 162-0, though.

Yes, I am fine with CC making lineups in the playoffs & World Series if he manages the team to get there.

Yes, same for the bullpen.

Yes, right now he is the guy.

Yes, I would imagine the coaches (& front office ) have input on how CC manages the bullpen.

I would guess that coaches say numerous things to CC throughout the game & he gives those things said varying amounts of consideration.

Yah, last nights loss sealed the deal in my opinion unless we play really well and find a way to sweep them. If not...no way.

We were out of the division race three weeks ago. Five games back now and six back in the loss column pretty much makes it an 8-9 game defecit.

I agree that the division is a huge long shot but how do you get 8-9 games out of that? LOL

Because out of those six losses, how many games do you think the Cubs are going to lose once the games played are even? Two at the most, a Lloyd Christmas chance at three.

Soto is 19 and has a 301/416/520 slash line as of last night.

We were not out of the division three weeks ago....and still aren’t. A sweep would dramatically change things. If we are still 4+ out after we play them the final time...then yah, sure, then we are virtually screwed in the division.

The Brewers are six out in the loss column assuming both teams hold on to their leads today. Even if we sweep then they are still three out in the loss column. It doesn't change things all that dramatically.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

Solid performance, Woody. Exactly what was needed.
