Rodriguez Splits:

Vs. Lefties .317/.406/.583

Vs. Righties .169/.298/.296.

So, that's pretty much the equivalent of their sunday forfeit lineup the day after blowing a game...awesome. hope the nats lay down for this one, but I doubt it.

Struggling to fathom why guerra gets another start, too.

Edit: guess I get the Lefty heavy start with Rodriguez's splits - hoping they have no issues subbing heavily once he's out of the game

I've found the analyzing and criticism of every single decision Counsell has made over the last couple months to be annoying and unnecessary. But his bullpen mis-management the last few weeks and last night especially coupled with for some reason not starting Cain today over Broxton and Granderson and starting Thames anywhere right now is just ridiculous. It's almost like the more the season collapses and games become more critical, CC takes it as a challenge to make decisions that show he cares more about tomorrow's game than winning the one right in front of him.

Every single game is HUGE and IMPORTANT in September. How many times has it been posted that "this is the game we will look back on and be mad about if we end up a game short again this year."

I'm tired of dismissing every blown game as it's just another game, 1 of 162.

If not now, when is it important to win?

I'm sure Counsell is a great guy and a great clubhouse presence, but is he the guy you want making line-ups in the play-offs and world series if we ever manage to make it that far?

Is he the guy you want to handle the bullpen in crucial situations during the playoffs and world series?

I ask that as a serious question, is he the guy?

Also, I posted this today in yesterday's game thread but I doubt anyone is still reading that thread and I seriously want the answer to this question:

Do any of the bench coaches have any input into how CC manages the bullpen or any other aspect of the game?

Do any of them ever say, "Hey Craig, maybe we should consider getting someone up and loose just in case Soria continues to struggle."

"Hey Craig, if Jesus gets on base, maybe we should think about an immediate pinch runner."

Or does everyone on the coaching staff just sit there mute so as not to step on the manager's toes?

I have often wondered what conversations take place and what conversations don't take place when events transpire...

He confers with Murphy all the time.

Would he use Hader 3 straight days if we had a 1 run lead in each game? The Indians with Andrew Miller have shown the league the blueprint, will CC follow it?

But, does Murphy share his true opinions with him, or is he a yes man?

I don't know. I am willing to be they sometimes disagree on things.

Look, we have been over this. Sunday is our rest day. Im not joking and you know it. We have the 7th worst record on Sundays and it has nothing to do with us running outta gas. We start our JV team. Our players are coddled. Counsel refuses to let them play more than x games in a row.

Urgency? Sorry, you have to go to St Louis to find that.

I mean, after last night, Counsell put the game in Jennings hands and quickly lost the game, because he felt that Hader needed 3 days off after pitching a whopping 34 pitches.

Counsel also said that Josh has pitched too much at 68 innings. Mind you, Hader really is capable of 100 pitch nights as a starter.

Dan Jennings? Why Counsell Why?

Should get to their bullpen early.

High pitch count isn't gonna matter much if they can't score more than two runs off of him.

They'll get to the bullpen having only scored two runs.

Guerra can’t get out of his own way. Time to enjoy September from the bullpen.
