Postseason 25-Man Roster Prediction

obobo55new
SP - Chacin, Miley, Gio

RP - Hader, Jeffress, Knebel, Burnes Soria, Cedeno, Woodruff, Guerra, Peralta

OF - Cain, Yelich, Braun

IF - Moose, Arcia, Shaw, Aguliar

C - Pina

Bench - Granderson, Broxton, Perez, Schoop, Kratz

Game 4 could be a bullpen day or just start Woodruff and then go to Guerra

Came down to Santana vs Granderson and needed a LH hitter off the bench

Don't think you want a bullpen day in the midst of a 3 game in a row stretch. If they decide to use a bullpen day, it makes sense to do it in game 2 when you will have a rest day afterwards. Only issue there is who comes back for game 6? Your #3 starter would only have 3 days rest.

Very interested to see how they approach this series. I would probably just go with 4 "starters" and assume that your #4 can do well enough in pitcher friendly Dodger Stadium to give you 5 innings. If you have to sacrifice that game to win game 3 or game 5, it would be OK.

I'm fairly confident that there were clubhouse issues with Villar and that's why he was traded. No specific info, just reading between the lines.

You can't really blame the front office for Schoop having the worst second half of his career. That's not something that can be scouted in an established major leaguer (especially one coming off Player of the Week and a hot streak)

No need for me to type it out since I think this nails it. It's as simple as needing 1 more pitcher for the potential 7 games in 9 days, and swapping out the one dimensional Santana for an added lefty in the pen (Cedeno).

Would be shocked if Santana is not on the roster......possibly the best bat off the bench.

The bullpen is rested. Guerra for Cedeno..

Pretty sure the Schoop trade isn't off limits when it comes to being critical.... Then again, he is just a key hit away from the trade being a great one...... maybe against the best lefty in the game.

Chase Anderson was healthy all year and had a career high in games. My current theory is that they thought he was starting to run out of gas and wanted him out of the rotation before he imploded, like Marcum and Wolf in 2011. Therefore I don't think we see him again in 2018. Davies had some nagging injuries and it's possible they're not 100% confident in him either. He was okay in his return, but didn't exactly stand out. There's a certain logic to leaving them both out.

Chacin

Miley

Gio

Guerra

Peralta

Hader

Jeffress

Knebel

Soria

Woodruff

Burnes

Cedeno

Kratz

Pina

Aguilar

Perez

Arcia

Shaw

Moustakas

Yelich

Cain

Braun

Granderson

I know it will probably be Broxton and Schoop, which is unfortunate because I am just about done with Schoop. He's terrible against LHP's, and he's now terrible against RHP's too. Would rather have Santana or Thames but you do probably need another middle infielder as Shaw is not a true 2B. I don't think you leave Cedeno out this time. 2-3-2 is different from 2-2-1 in terms of off days, and the Dodgers have too many LHB's.

He won't be facing Josh Hader anytime soon....

Burying Villar on the bench isn't off limits to criticism either. I disliked him as much as anyone, but that doesn't excuse a bad trade. The only valid excuse is if Villar was a problem in the locker room, but you don't have to give up assets to get rid of him.

Schoop's terrible against LHP's by the way. Reverse splits for his career. That's another thing that makes the trade so infuriating. They had Shaw at 2B and Moustakas at 3B, and they just need infielders to play against LHP's. Perez and Villar are both better than Schoop in that regard, and have much more value than Schoop on the bases as well. Villar had turned himself into a good defender at 2B. Even Counsell openly acknowledged it. And Villar honestly has a longer track record of playing SS at a serviceable level than Schoop.

Under the circumstances, it's debatable whether they should have given up Villar for Schoop straight up, and it was debatable even at the time. No, they couldn't have foreseen this level of a slump, but it was too much of a risk because guys who won't take a bad pitch will regularly have slumps like this. In fact, you could argue that these slumps become more frequent as opponents master their weaknesses.

Wow, Dodgers included Urias on their roster.

They left off Scott Alexander which is equally a surprise, but if I was a fan of the Dodgers I would rather have Urias than Alexander as the lefty out of the pen. Alexander made 3 appearances against the Brewers this season, pitching 3.1 innings and allowing 2 earned runs on 3 hits, 3 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Rolling the dice with Urias may appear to be a bit of risk, but it could payoff big-time if Urias has his best stuff.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

6 of the 12 Dodgers pitchers are LHP. Obviously Kershaw & Hill for sure will get starts, but they are setting up to try to play matchups against our LH hitters.

Good thing Yelich doesn't care about such things. But yeah, it's a big deal for Shaw and Moose and pretty much ensures that Thames spends another series watching from the dugout.

Yea, even though I knew it already it is more clear every day that Braun/Aguilar are the key to this series.

Do not forget Cain. I think this extra rest is extremely beneficial, but especially to both Cain and Aguilar.

Yea, I didn't mention him because Cain is Cain. He'll do his thing regardless of LHP/RHP. I expect both Cain and Yelich to be on base plenty, with big pressure on Braun/ Aguilar to get them home.

Where the hell is the Brewers 25 man?? Maybe 10am isn't the time they had to have it released. Seems that if it was, they'd have long since released it by now.

I believe 10am is the time it needs to be officially turned into MLB. Sources have confirmed that the roster has been set, but not released to public yet. no idea why that delay is happening, but the roster is indeed set.
