2018-08-26: Pirates (Archer) at Brewers (Anderson) 1:10 PM CDT [Brewers win, 7-4]

Eye Black
Not going to blame the Brewers offense for this one. Scored 6 2-out runs off Archer, and have had several hard hit balls right at guys since.

Chase's home run problem is so longstanding that it seems unsolveable. He's an ace other than the fact that he gives a couple homers EVERY GAME. One of the most frustrating pitchers to watch.

He's not an ace at all. Never has been and never will.

Hey fellas been busy week and late to the party again today... but are we only allowed to score in one inning per game? And then have to bribe the baseball gods for another inning of scoring here and there - this week has felt absolutely brutal in those regards !

There was a pretty big caveat in my statement, but whatever.

The Pirates and Padres have looked like Boston offensively facing the pitching staff.

Hopefully in the offseason they acquire a starter and Nelson comes back with no set backs.

Just not good enough to sustain over a long season.

Up 6-0 and Hader has to save the day (again) in the 6th.

Typically I hate the slide rule but that one was ridiculous

Out of curiosity, why would you hate the slide rule? I can't see any reason to allow take-out slides, especially if the player isn't even aiming for the base.

'cause Brewers. Nothing can ever be easy for this team.

I could be wrong but it used to be if you could touch the base you could try to take someone out. Now you have to slide directly to the base. Do I have this wrong?

Matt Carpenter is the MVP.

They are on a tear right now, Jeez.

At least the Rockies may fall behind again.

I don't understand how lucky the Cardinals are year in and year out... did they bring back the roids? Is La Russa back to forcing it on them?

No. You can’t deviate from your path towards second to slide into a runner. So basically if you start running inside or outside of second you can slide off the base. BUT if you do that you have to be able to get your hand on the base. You also can overslide the base as long as you can keep your hand on the base.

Staying in contact with the base is the new rule. Old days you could slide late and blow 5 feet past, or slide 6 feet to the side.
