"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Colorado Sky Sox now lead their division after a 7 game winning streak!!!

Wouldn’t be shocked if Corey Ray and Keston Hiura get mini promotions to fill out a potential postseason roster. They may not want to do that to their AA affiliate though.

Biloxi Box Score

Today was almost a mirror of Friday night's loss. The duo of Zack Brown and Braden Webb did well - only three runs allowed - but the offense could only muster one run, going 1-7 with runners in scoring position and leaving eight runners on base. Webb was particularly effective, giving up only one hit and no runs in four innings. He struck out six.

Shucker batters managed five hits and five walks, but could not come up big when needed - save for Max McDowell who had two hits and the team's only RBI.

Mississippi only had five hits, but they got two of them in 3rd - along with two walks - and that would plate three runs via a bases loaded double.

Batting

Max McDowell: 2-3, 2B, BB

Gabriel Noriega: 1-3, BB

Troy Stokes Jr.: 1-3, BB

Pitching

Zack Brown: 4.0 IP, 4 hits, 3 ER, 3BB, 1K

Braden Webb: 4.0 IP, 1 hit, 0 ER, 0BB, 6K

Notes

Brown lost his first game of the season on Saturday.

Corey Ray's batting average has dropped to .240 for the season. He is 4 for his last 51. Ouch.

Outstanding outing for Webb - 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R/ER, 0 BB, 6 K.

By the end of next year, that 2016 draft class of Ray/Erceg/Feliciano/Webb/Burnes/Z. Brown/Henry/McClanahan/Jankins/W. Wilson/Hummel/Roegner/Lillis is going to be a very special one. No superstars, but a lot of solid major leaguers and some legitimate SP prospects. Wilson and Hummel are starting to look like legitimate bench options, and when you can get that in the 17th/18th rounds that is a nice bonus. The only positions Wilson hasn't played this year are C and CF.

Final: Wisconsin 5, Clinton 4

García's Ninth Inning Blast Stuns Clinton

Rattlers win 5-4 on last-ditch homer to pick up ground in playoff chase

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

Read up, that's why we link!

AUDIO via the Rattler Radio Soundcloud: Via Chris -- "The two-out, two-run homer by Gabriel García in the ninth inning to turn a 4-3 deficit at Clinton into a 5-4 lead. García had been hitless in his last 18 at bats before this clutch home run. The Rattlers would go on to win the game 5-4 and they now trail Kane County and Beloit by 1-1/2 games for the Second Half Western Division Wild Card. So....not an over-reaction on my part. I stand by this call."

Final: Oklahoma City 4, Colorado Springs 2

Looks like we're you only online home for the summary --

DODGERS RETAKE DIVISION LEAD; EVEN SERIES AT 1-1

Oklahoma City Rallied for Two Late Runs to Even the Series and Retake a Slim Division Lead

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Sky Sox relinquished their division lead Saturday night, dropping game two of this critical four-game series against the Dodgers 4-2, after the Dodgers rallied late with two runs in the seventh to crack a tense 2-2 tie.

After a scoreless first frame, both teams scored a pair of runs in the second inning. In the top of the second, Richie Shaffer drew a one-out walk to put one on for Andres Blanco, who promptly homered on the first pitch he saw all evening to give the Sky Sox an early 2-0 lead. It was Blanco's ninth longball of the season.

In the bottom half of the frame, Oklahoma City fired back with two runs of their own. Edwin Rios led off with his 23rd double of the 2018 campaign for the Dodgers, before Will Smith drew a walk to put two on with no outs. Matt Beady grounded out for the first out of the inning, advancing both baserunners into scoring position for Rocky Gale, who singled home Rios for Oklahoma City's first run of the contest. Jake Peter then lined out for the second out of the inning, allowing Smith to score and tie the game at two runs apiece.

Both starting pitchers settled in for the remainder of their outings, as both hurlers produced quality starts, leaving the game after six innings of work. Paolo Espino, who started for Colorado Springs, allowed just the two runs on four hits with two walks and a trio of strikeouts. Conversely, Oklahoma starter Daniel Corcino also allowed just two runs on five hits with a pair of walks while striking out seven Sky Sox batters.

There wouldn't be another run scored in the game until the seventh inning, when the home team tacked on another two runs. Beaty led off with a double, advancing to third on a ground out. With two outs on the board, Kyle Farmer drew a four-pitch walk to put two on for Tim Locastro, who hit an RBI double to score Beaty and put Farmer 90 feet from home. Alex Verdugo then hit a sharp single to plate Farmer and extend the Dodgers' lead to 4-2.

After a quick and quiet eighth inning, the Sky Sox went into the ninth down to their final three outs as they tried to retain the division lead. Shaffer led off with a walk for Colorado Springs, giving the Sky Sox some life, before the next three batters were retired to give the Dodgers control of the division once again by half a game, evening the series at 1-1.

The Sky Sox continue into game three of the four-game set against the Dodgers tomorrow with a 6:05 PM CT first pitch.

Sunday's Preview: In game three of Colorado Springs' final road trip of 2018 and this four-game series against the Dodgers in Oklahoma City, the Sky Sox are sending righty Aaron Wilkerson to the mound to face off against southpaw Kyle Lobstein for the Dodgers.
