2019 MLB Schedule Released

MrTPlush

TBD: Ring Ceremony

TBD: Banner Unveiling

Also appears we are just going to end the season mid-August (schedule is still being updated into the calendar)

Thoughts:

-We play the Angels (Mike Trout) on the road.

-We play the brutal AL West.

-We play the Cardinals NINE times before April is done.

-Easy end of the year.

I think I saw that we play at LAA and LAD back to back and it's in mid April. So could be a good time for a road trip to LA for folks since it's still blah weather here, get a chance to see both stadiums and one of the best players ever.

Thoughts:

-Would prefer to play the Angels later in the year when every SP is on the DL (pretty much an annual occurance).

-10 straight on the road vs. Cubs, Phillies, and Braves looks tough.

-Play in Pittsburgh on the road before the All-Star break. Try to win one of those.

-Last 3 weeks look alright, but I think the Padres will be a much improved team with their prospects and signs of trying to contend (in Archer trade talks).

-Why can't we play the Twins on the weekend?

Or you can save money and watch Jesus play at Miller Park

Tethering us to Minnesota every year is frustrating and divorced from reality. I am old enough to remember our AL days, and the Twins summon as low of an intensity that you can find.

I suppose MLB is obsessed with letting "natural rivalries" be played every year. However, Minnesota and Milwaukee is a farce in this regard. The subway series concept notwithstanding, I think it would be more fun if our matchups got spread around more teams.

That always frustrates me too now that I am back up north and closer to Minneapolis.

I personally don't mind playing them every year to be honest. It is always nice to play an AL partner that is close by and a similar market to us. I feel like it is a brotherly game, not a rivalry.

I also enjoy Manfred sending baseball to places it usually isn't. Domestically and Internationally.

Very disappointed that Mike Trout and the Angels won't be coming to Miller Park.

Will definitely be all over Labor Day tickets to see Houston.

I need to look closer, but it appears that there are some long road trips in the early part of the year. If we can get through May we'll have a lot of home stands in June & July.

Will the MLB ever adopt a schedule like the NBA where they play every team each season? Living in MD I would love to see the Crew come and play in Baltimore. Even if they had to alternate home/away every other season it would be better than what they have now I have been in MD for 12 years and can’t remember the last time they played in Baltimore.

With interleague play every day that would make so much more sense and a much fairer schedule since everybody plays everybody. Not sure why they haven't gone that way yet.

I'd like to see a schedule that looks like this...

18 games against your own division (4 teams)- 72 games

6 games against each of the other teams in the league (10 teams)- 60 games

6 games against one division in the other league (5 teams)- 30 games

The division in the other league rotates each year like the NFL does (so in year one the NLC plays the ALC, then the ALE, etc...).

It's still 162 games and it guarantees that each team in the division has common opponents that they play the same number of games against.

The players union is opposed due to the extra travel so they would want something in return for this. There is potential for reform if expansion to 32 and realignment ever happens.

Love it. That makes too much sense.

How would there be any extra travel than there is now? It's not like the NBA where the conferences are East Coast and West Coast.

Anyone else somewhat baffled that Opening Day is on a Thursday? I know MLB doesn't really care about how the fans reaction to that is because people will show up to most stadiums either way, but it'd be great to have a three day weekend, and not take a day off mid week.

Yah I think they like making it an afternoon weekday game. People show up anyway.

Best opening day I remember was 2012 because it was on a Friday, I think at 3 PM too instead of 1. Too bad they made this a 4 gamer to start instead of 3 or they could have repeated that one.

I went back and looked and I was surprised to see we haven't played STL opening day since that 2012 game. According to the list I found we've lost 4 straight and 7 of the last 9. That definitely jives with my memory. [sarcasm]So not really excited that it's STL and almost a guaranteed loss.[/sarcasm]

Probably most losses vs the Rockies. Seems like every opener I go to we play and lose to the Rockies. Probably not accurate but it’s how I feel after Trevor Story hits at least a homer a game.
