I remember early last year being impressed with Shaw because he hit to all fields and got a lot of singles and doubles going the other way. He never does that any more and that last AB, rolling over on a low outside pitch is a perfect example.

Too bad the Brewers don’t have a hitting coach that could help hitters go back to what worked for them before.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Go read Reilly's post on the main page...

I'm not sure you read it.

That is correct. My first response was before I read it. The above was after...

I will refrain from calling people who are acting like a <*#^#>, a <*#^#>, and try to point out in a constructive way, that there's a constructive way to correct inaccurate assumptions (in this case, who actually makes the decision on a challenge)...

I don't know how you guys don't get this yet. COUNSELL DOESN'T CHALLENGE.

We get it, but thanks for being

Moderator: Come on, dude. You know better.

I assume Counsell hired the person(s) that doing the replay advising for him..... So at this point in the season, it is on him.

Braun looks so good right now. Should be out there every day these days other than the normal maintenance schedule and keep moving him back up in the lineup. I've been intrigued by him in the 1 or 2 hole for a while since he's not nearly the power threat he was, and tell him no pressure to drive in, take your walks if they are there.

Amazing how Braun's luck has changed.

Actually what is amazing is how bad his numbers were before.....what he is doing now is what should happen when you make consistently hard contact.

The bad numbers were partially due to luck. He was hitting the ball hard with a low BABIP. I do agree he his overall looking better lately but one wonders if some of that is related to momentum/confidence.

We really need Braun to be healthy in late September and potentially October. I assume this is the reasoning behind some of the bullpen management as well. Our previous failures in the postseason were partially due to guys burning out and I like that we seem to be working to avoid this. Although hopefully not at the expense of making the playoffs in the first place.

He was too busy swinging at junk the start of the year. He was "unlucky" to some extent, but your numbers are going to suck when you have the plate discipline he was having...it was really bad.

He only has 8 K's in his last 67 PAs! WOW! 3 in his last 30.

That in my opinion shows it is way more than balls finally dropping.

Oddly enough there's been a consistent decrease in the Brewers challenge efficiency since replay started (they were actually near the top in the beginning). So if they have the same person he/she has been getting worse... If they have hired new people, they need to change what they are looking for as the results keep getting worse...

Why do we seemingly so often take strike 3 with runners in scoring position?

Cain especially. Feels all too common. Cain also likes to get into "walk or bust" mode a lot of times too, which often leads to watching strike 3.

I looked it up sometime before the All-Star break and IIRC, I don't think the plate discipline stats showed that Braun was swinging at many more pitches out of the strike zone than his career averages. It's possible that it was slightly higher by maybe a percent, but the percentages seemed pretty steady for the most part.

If my memory serves, the biggest reason he wasn't hitting as well (besides luck - his launch velocity was still somewhere in the top 30-40 in MLB) was because he was swinging and missing balls IN the strike zone more than he used to. That is almost certainly because of father time and possibly little nagging injuries.

Braun's not a massive liability on D like a Thames. Might as well keep him in there in case he gets another AB. You're only up 2.

Braun's first 2ish weeks he was chasing the low outside slider like crazy. really seems normal after to me. One odd thing I've though is a few too many jam shots off his hands for weak grounders to 3b, and several on first pitches. Could be more patient on those

I am not watching on TV so I am not aware of what may be going on in the bullpen, but if Peralta's spot in the line-up comes up with the bases empty and 2 outs I am sending him to the plate. Actually I would let him bat regardless even if the plan is to take him out of the game pitching wise.
