I'm told the Dodgers are the "mystery team" that claimed Bryce Harper on revocable waivers.

 

If that's true, the Dodgers will be truly screwed as far as luxury tax if the Nationals simply let him walk. They'd be over for sure. That would give the Nationals a ton of leverage to extract major prospects. We'll see.

If that's true, the Dodgers will be truly screwed as far as luxury tax if the Nationals simply let him walk. They'd be over for sure. That would give the Nationals a ton of leverage to extract major prospects. We'll see.

 

I don't think it's happening. The Nationals would probably prefer the comp pick on Harper so they're not letting him walk for free. The Dodgers probably aren't going to pay the prospects that it costs.

do the dodgers have any top tier prospects? or is it possible an MLB player is sent back to make this happen?

Harper, Machado and Dozier would be an unreal haul for in-season trades. Big markets are reigning this summer!

 

Sure, if the goal is just to get the biggest names you can find. The Dodgers are 2 games under .500 since acquiring Machado.
